UMC families can buy an extra chromebook or 2 as long as they aren't facing unemployment. I did. |
+1. Or, more accurately, not many intelligent people want this. Sadly, as we are finding out, we are a minority in this country. |
| Since you asked about income inequality rankings, the PRC, India and S. Africa are way up there. US is too, you're correct. Just not at the top of the list. |
Same here. It has become background noise to me.... |
| Taking care of your children isn’t racist. |
It is when you're also advocating to keep schools closed and keep poorer kids from getting any education at all. |
If only it were safe |
that's why people created the term privileged, so that you don't need an overtly racist act to be made to feel bad |
How would that work? |
Who wants to keep anyone else from going to school? It’s unAmerican to try and hinder freedom of movement like this. |
Yeah I don’t care about any of that. I’m not going to break my leg to apologize for my “able bodied privilege” and I’m not going to hobble my children either. People will have to stay mad about it. |
Good for you. I'll be working so that my kids can continue to live indoors. We have decided that is a priority for us. |
Uhhh a lot of people on this board. |

People are entitled to their opinions about how pods are going to leave some kids out. They have a point.
People are also entitled to hire a tutor if they want. People can believe BLM and still feel the need to form a pod. One could even extend an invitation to a friend to join the pod who might not be able to afford the same rate as the rest of the members. All these things can be true and realistically, no one is going to stop you from doing what you have to do or paying what you want to pay to educate your kid. |
Who is advocating that poor kids shouldn't get any education at all? Isn't this what distance learning, free loaner computers and grab and go lunches are for? Do you really think it's fair to send poor kids to community schools during a pandemic???? I opted for hybrid but, the logic here fails no matter what. We are depriving the poor or we are sending them into danger. How do you think a covid hospitalization plays out in a poor family? |
