Who's going to make the vaccine and have it available to children in the next 12 months? No one. If you pick DL, you will be DL for the year. If you pick hybrid, you will be DL a couple of months after school starts. |
I just can't see how public school can stop DL from coming back to assigned school. If hybrid student can move between DL and in-schools (depending on risk factor) so should DL student be able to. 74K students are going to do DL. FCPS will need to make sure DL and in-school students gets same standard of education. If not, there will be high resentment on either side. IMO, FCPS should have given only one option every semester based on current Covid data/projection. Locking in child for 1 year in DL or in-school is just inviting trouble. No one needs to play the system to re-enroll in school. |
I think FCPS will revert back to semester base approach. It not fair to lock in DL student for 1 year remote. |
| I think the problem is the planning. There are some kids in LL4 who will need to be assigned a DL teacher not at their school. Same with other programs and whatnot. It won’t be so easy to go back and forth. |
For elementary school, there's no reason to offer a semester choice and several reasons not to, aside from the logistical problems. Continuity of teacher and class style is a big reason not to offer choice for the second semester. |
Obviously, not at risk for this virus, which is not yet well understood — what don’t you get? |
This is exactly our plan. |
