Just for fun - which majors are high-brow vs. low-brow?

High brow: art history, medieval studies. Poor earning potential.

Low brow: STEM fields or business with good steady prospects.

My dad is an Indian immigrant who was an engineer. He wanted so much better for us. None of his children are engineers! It’s seen as a middle class /worker bee lifestyle.

I'm an engineer, but I can absolutely see why engineering is considered low-brow. It's basically a vocational diploma with calculus.

low brow - all other courses of study. But especially sociology and political science. We always assumed those grad students couldn't hack it in the econ math.

Look up econ heavy political science and IR programs to balance your brows.

Low brow.

I'm a nurse. People don't understand what we do. They don't understand why what we do is important. They think we're here for Refreshments and Narcotics.

We understand. It's that most "nurses" do not hold BSN's, and of course someone like a CNA or LPN is more working class than anything else.
