| A good scone (moist, buttery) is amazing |
+1 I love a good scone. I don’t find that many. I’ve tried making them and they are horrible. It is hard to find a good one but when I did, it’s scrumptious. |

I make scones from scratch and they are heavenly. But even well made ones don’t hold up all that well. And most scones in stores and groceries are not fresh or well made. So yeah, they are bad.

| Absolutely. Amazing when dipped in coffee too |

I love fresh scones, right out of the oven.
But they don't keep well. If it's been sitting on a shelf, it's not going to taste good. |
I like scones in Europe better than US. Have yet to find good scones here. |
Try the Joy of Baking cream scone recipe. |

Make these (follow the recipe exactly; it matters) and then come back here and dare to tell me you don't like scones: https://smittenkitchen.com/2010/10/apple-and-cheddar-scones/
Now I want it to be fall, because these are the first thing I make! |
This. If they're still warm, you're fine. The moment they cool, they start getting dense. Day old is too late; scones are a day-of food to be baked when needed. I have frozen the dough, with mixed results. |

Agree and I put bagels in that category too. Yes, even good and real New York bagels. Both are calorie bombs nobody working a desk job needs to eat at 8am. And even when they're 10/10, they're not that great or worth the calories/carbs. If I'm going to indulge for breakfast, I'd rather have a fresh plain or pistachio croissant from a good bakery.

You have to heat them or dip them in coffee to conceal the fact they're stale hockey pucks. |
I was at a conference in the UK and they served the most heavenly scones with clotted cream and jam. Those were amazing. Never tried any that were as good as those. Definitely not the dried out stuff sold here with coffee. |

Probably not the most authentic scones; but I prefer moist to dry and love Great Harvest black raspberry scones (and I don't really like black raspberries).
Cranberry orange is usually a safe flavor bet, too. |
This! I love scones, but I’m not going to make a batch because they don’t keep (even when frozen). |
