Best school for highly gifted and talented, "quirky" kid?

I am so happy for you and your success. Is your child a legacy?

Yes, of course, I did and so did my child. The only time I went to a public school was Pre-K. I still remember the smell of the stinky bathrooms. When I think of public schools -- I think subpar. Even the WP had an article yesterday saying the "beloved" public in Mont. Co. aren't as good as they used to be and have been slipping for the past 10 years.

It must have been hell banished to public school for pre-K? What were your parents thinking?

This is a joke, right?

No joke here. This is her real world.

Could someone please post this link? I searched the Post website for this article but couldn't find it. Thanks.

I am sure that this is a joke.

No joke. This is her hallucinogenic worldview.

PP -- you overuse the word hallucinogenic and any of its derivatives all over these psts. Do you think the word applies to everything? Or do you just have a very limited world view and vocabulary?

Excuse my bumbling. I did not have as privileged and education as you (except for pre-K). But, which private school did you and your child attend? My kids attend public school and while I have not visited their bathrooms we are considering private for high school. Any input is appreciated.

Maybe you were referring to a different article but here is one from the Washington Examiner about the problems with MCPS:

My child didn't go to the same school as me. I'm from the Midwest. If you are looking for private high schools -- do you want single-sexed or co-ed? Do you have a geographic preference? Do your kids have any special sports they play? How do they do in school? Will you consider a religious school? If so -- which one?

Which public school bathrooms reek the most stench...Midwest or mid-Atlantic? Do you think the stench is due to the low concentration of cleaning disinfectant in use or the kids?

My DS goes to private school (and has his whole life - not tainted with public school) and he can stink up a bathroom pretty darn well. But he's not at a Big 3 ...yet...maybe those children have better digestive systems.

There's something unique and pleasant smelling about the output of Big 3 nephrons and neurons.

Hallucinogenic and any derivative thereof only applies to you and your posts. The adjective describes most of your posts. The use of this adjective is specific, as is your paranoid schizophrenic personality. It is not a result of a limited world view and vocabulary. It's your clinical diagnosis.

I think I'm the first one you called hallucinogenic on this thread, but now you're applying it to others. Do you think there are just 2 people writing here? Anyway, coming back to this thread today, I am surprised by your vitriol. Might be time to end this.
