No, see, we don’t hate the sinner (conservative Christians), just the sin (non-acceptance of LGBTQ).

Exactly.

If you weren’t out actively trying to hurt people and take away their rights then no one would GAF what you do. Go back to your hole.

Once again, the curiously ignorant reaction by a small vocal group in the progressive movement has demonstrated how incompatible their ideas and goals are with the principles that has made this country great.

Ok, Aunt Lydia. We know you want to make it “great”.

Or C) one group of people saying another group of people shouldn’t exist. I’ll go with C as most discriminatory.

Except “A”never said that about “C”

If I tell you that your heterosexuality is immoral and you have to become gay that is pretty much the equivalent of saying you should not exist as you truly are. If I tell a black man he must be a white woman, that is the equivalent of me saying he shouldn't exist as he truly is.

Conservative Christians don't think gays should exist. Period.

No, they hate the sin, not the sinner.

They're of the belief that homosexuals should not act on those impulses. They also believe that those who truly repent for a sin should be forgiven, rather than tolerating sins.

Feel free to disagree, but you don't understand the religious right.

I’m a minister. I have lots of minister friends. Every single one would call bullshit on that ridiculous excuse. Being gay is part of who someone is. You cannot “hate the sin” without hating the sinner. That would be like me saying I hate women. But I love you. It’s a cop out that cowardly ”Christians “ use to justify hate.

As a minister you should be well aware of the 6 things God hates. Proverbs 6:16-19

And you should also know that not all Christians are alike. How many Christians cast aside Catholicism, for example? And even within the Catholic faith, you have "levels," with Opus Dei being one of the least flexible! I can't tell you how many questions on the religious forum center on recs for specific types of religious institutions, all related to "levels" of religiosity.

So maybe you and your crew think the "hate the sin" line is BS, but not everyone follows your specific belief system. Will you protest against Pence's kind then?

I'm not a practicing anything, btw, as I left the Catholic church years ago. But I do understand that each religious branch has many sects that fall on a continuum.

It is what it is, and we will NEVER come together as a group when we're run by religious doctrine.

It’s funny how when you put it like that you realize how much they have in common with conservative Muslims. Maybe some day they’ll realize that too.

Same sex relations is condemned by all religions.

Liar.

+infinity

The Episcopalian church holds gay marriages, has gay bishops, has trans clergy, and does not condemn trans or gay. I am proud that my local church was protested by Westboro for this reason.

It's been discussed on the religion forum, but the prior presiding bishop Schori made more than a few heretical comments.

Heretical to whom? Karen Pence? Nope, I did not have a problem with Schori, her pro choice views, her pro gay marriage views, etc. Are you Episcopalian?

Principles like freedom for all, no matter what their race, gender, religion, physical ability, or sexual orientation!

The interview comes after news reports that Karen Pence would be teaching art at a private school that requires potential employees to pledge that they believe marriage is between a man and a woman and that they do not engage in "homosexual or lesbian sexual activity" or "transgender identity," according to the employment application.

Parents are also required to sign a clause indicating that the school "reserves the right" to refuse admission to or discontinue enrollment of a student if their activities are "in opposition to the biblical lifestyle the school teaches."

curious why my earlier comment was deleted

I was thinking this comment might be taken by some RWNJ as a slight to Karen, just like the "smoky eye" comment by Michelle Wolf was.

Can you point to ANY Christian who advocates putting women in these get-ups and forcibly impregnating them? The Christian anti-abortion position is that if you create a life, you shouldn't kill it. The Handmaid's Tale is a ridiculous fever dream of people who don't even try to understand the viewpoint.
