Are you guys all older moms? Younger moms (including Markle's generation; I'm in it) often do stretchy tops/dresses and don't buy actual maternity stuff. All this pearl-clutching over the stretchiness of the dress just seems old-fashioned. If you're younger, it seems petty.

um...not so young. She's 37, or AMA (Advanced Maternal Age). I'm 40, so in her generation and I would never wear that dress, bought maternity stuff, etc.) Younger moms = 20-something to lower 30-something.

He paid for her college education as most good parents do and she had student jobs and a career the moment she left the university. From then on she repaid his kindness but she doesn’t owe him whatever he put down. As a parent you do that with no expectations on a return.

As for him wanting her to find his retirement/income, any idiot can read between the lines. Why else would he be selling pictures to the paparazzi and conversations to TMZ before the wedding! She was talking to him then. Why else is would he continue to sell interviews, pictures and her mementos after her marriage?

All he had to do was respect her wishes and walk her down the aisle. But for some reason he couldn’t do that and when she cut him off he thinks harassing her by using the press will solve the problem? It just proves she can’t trust him and I don’t know what kind of father would simultaneously be so ignorant and cruel as to do what he’s done to his own family.

But it’s not out of character - he abandoned his first wife and children to marry Meghan’s mom. It’s all about what he wants.

PP here. I didn't buy much maternity stuff at all, and I'm between your age and Megan's. When I think of those maternity tent shirts etc., I think of people in my mom's generation.

Perhaps a better term is cohort vs. younger moms. More recent cohorts of moms seem to be wearing less maternity clothes. That one should cover up one's pregnant belly just seems like a dated notion.

I am honestly shocked people on DCUM are advising that MM have contact with her father, who has proven again and again that he is only looking to profit off her. It's so weird; usually DCUM is all about maintaining good boundaries with toxic and harmful relatives.

Umm no. Big difference between walking away from two children and making another family versus returning your engagement rings like a class act and cutting ties. He did a lot more than just fund her private school and college education. He basically got her foot in the door by connecting her with all of her first acting gigs as well. (This is easily confirmed by comparing her acting gigs with his industry credits.) In addition, he paid for her first wedding. By all accounts based on HER social media posting he was involved and supportive up until the time she met Harry at which point she dropped him like a bad habit and started promoting the "abandoned father" schtick.

And the little stunt with her Instagram account mysteriously being reactivated this week? It was obviously so she could scrub all references to her father which would only further prove his points in the press this week that their relationship was fine until she met Harry and she began trying to rewrite her image and history so as to best serve her social climbing interests.

Her father is obviously not perfect, but I don't think he deserves the treatment he's gotten so far and I don't really blame him for losing his mind trying to reach out to this daughter. Add to all of this that her own mother is not spending the holidays with her (her own newly married, pregnant, only child??) and it really makes me wonder what this woman has done to her family to cause all of this drama.

Meghan MAILED her engagement rings back to Trevor. She blindsided him with the divorce. The celebrity chef helped her gain entree into Toronto society, along with Jessica Mulroney.

Oh, a author says Meghan will regret it if he dies. Ha, doubt it. One thing the Brits could learn that American politicians and celebrities have mastered - every narrative can be re-written. Look at the Kennedys, Angelina Jolie, even Prince Charles marrying his mistress is the ultimate example of that. The UK hated Camilla for over a decade and yet somehow she’s wearing tiaras next to the Queen.
