When your public school is supposed to be one of the best but sucks

I don’t understand why haven’t the VA counties haven’t had UVA or some other reputable university/educational consultant do an independent evialuation of its curriculum ......like Hopkins did for MCPS. This is a transparency issue as it seems like Northern VA Publics don’t want parent feedback or outcry. If an independent evaluation has been done, can someone please respond to my post? Thanks.

FCPS moved part of Haycock AAP to Lemon Road and, within a few years, the enrollment was almost back to where it had been. It’s a very sought-after area.

That's because the innocent people who look to move in don't know about the shit show that lies beneath.

Shrug. Our kids did just fine.

MoCo teachers, parents, administrators complained about 2.0 from day one and continually afterwards. There's no widespread discontent with Fairfax, Arlington, or the curriculum.

There is no standard curriculum at least in FCPS whereas curriculum 2.0 was a way of standardizing the curriculum in MCPS. In FCPS, it's all up to the teacher.

PP, can’t speak for me but I am unhappy about grammar instruction, the over-testing, too much classroom technology, lack of free & quality universal pre-k.

I don't want free universal pk. The other complaints about FCPS relate mostly to current best practices. I dislike many of them, too, but they won't be changing outside of individual teachers making different choices.

Pretty much teacher and principal. There is no class teaching from the same textbook or materials throughout FCPS.
