Yup, as a new club with no tourney history they have to play the Gotsoccer points game. The results should start to give them a history to start climbing the tournament pecking order. But in most cases they will be at a NCSL level for tournaments in the coming year as their teams navigate the quagmire of tournament hierarchy.

The fact that they are not in leagues also counts against them in regards to tourney acceptances and seeding with no tournament playing history to go on. All they can really do for now is enter lower tournaments and play the games.

Yes. If anyone is primarily concerned about 'league prestige' and tournament wins, this isn't the place for them. The parents/players in this Academy are concerned first and foremost about development. The TRAINING is what matters. Yes, wins will follow as they progress. But--this isn't a schmooze with the Coach and lobby to get your kid on some 'top team'/top league. You will not fit in. Parents are a very modest, intelligent bunch about the sport-- pretty much the antithesis of your typical travel soccer parent. Also, they don't 'see' players the same way most travel coaches do. Many kids used to being the star at their Clubs were humbled initially as they are looking at completely different characteristics when they evaluate players---they are often looking at them when they don't even have the ball and how a player 'thinks'. They see minute details.

Many age groups have zero intention of joining leagues next year because they are too restrictive for the way they develop players. Kids are mixed between teams and age groups often. This is seen as a long-term development process.

They have several teams per age group and they do not release all of them for competitive play. They want to make sure the players know the methodology well enough before they go out there and start competing because the pressure will make them revert to bad habits and the typical US kick and run.

And, yes, they have to start in lower brackets because that is how it works in the US--any team has to work their way up. That said, some teams had impressive wins against decent teams this Spring.

They get frustrated being the 'monkey in the middle' and start fouling horrendously by the end of the game. At least that's what we've seen .

Is it a red flag that the tryout is only one day for 40 minutes? Will that just favor the people who have already been playing for them?

Are they going to train anywhere other than Evergreen? Ton of talent out there, I know, but that’s way too far for some in NoVa, even if development is top notch. Also, one post indicated that some participants play at clubs. How are they managing to do both? Is escola training only one or two days a week?

Need some advice from U11 parents at BRYC whats the program like I have son playing U11 at a local club b team thinking we might trying out for u12 over there any info would be appreciated coaching, training days, location, time , etc. how many teams will they field? how many coaches per age group? we are in another club now and its just getting stale no real purpose of style of play more of kick and chase.

Good question. As a parent on this team I can tell you it’s a wonderful team with a very dedicated coach. The club is small so communication and marketing don’t get much of a budget but I’m sure they will post dates for May as they did last year. I think our coach wanted to get ahead and spread the word early.

Another FPYC 2008 girls parent here ... I don't think we get much in the way of communication from the club and we (the parents) have likely adjusted our expectations accordingly. I don't know if we'd ever hear anything about other FPYC travel teams if some of our players didn't have older siblings. Communication within the team itself flows effortlessly (via TeamSnap, Facebook, YouTube).

FPYC has only one girls team at this age group and our coach is looking to grow the roster from 12 to 16 (as allowed for U11). Sadly, I don't think there was enough interest to field a 2009 girls team last year. For all I know, the 2009 and 2010 girls may be in the same situation this year. **I** am not aware of any travel players already within FPYC that could play up with this team next year.

As was stated, our coach is awesome (don't many parents think that about their child's coach? ). He never yells at the girls and has tried his best to have us parents buy into "Silent Soccer." (That's still a work-in-progress for a sideline-yeller ... like me). Our coach is very thorough, even to the point of providing a 9-page player evaluation at the end of our Fall 2017 season, covering 50 different aspects of the game, each ranked from 1 (needs significant improvement) to 9 (national team standard) ... and each with insightful comments! He is all about teaching the game of soccer.

A roster of 16 kids to play 9v9? So 7 subs? I get that you want to expand the roster to prepare for 11v11 at U13 but that's ridiculous for U11.

^^ our U10 team has 6 subs this year. It’s horrible. At U9 we had 3 and it was perfect.

9:47 - more subs is good if you have a team of overscheduled kids. We have a roster of 11 for a 7x7 format, and I wish we could roster 12. 3 kids are on multiple soccer teams, a couple of kids have softball conflicts, several are church-y families that will no-show for Sunday games, and a few have families who like to travel on weekends. So we're usually missing at least a couple of girls per game, or someone's coming late or leaving early.

Honestly, these people should not be playing travel soccer id it's not their priority. There is a commitment to the team when you accept an offer.
