The desert area around Tucson is gorgeous and can be quite green |
Australia is huge and the key sights are scattered across long distances. While there's some lovely areas and mountains and beaches, most of Australia is nondescript or dreary landscapes. Very expensive with very high taxes on just about everything. Not too different from the US in a sense (it's not the same but the lifestyle is comparable enough, low density cities with sprawling suburbs, most people have suburban lifestyles) Little in way of museums or cultural venues. Loud and visibly proud working class subculture that isn't always endearing. I do like Australia and have always enjoyed my trips there but I can also easily see why not everyone would find Australia worth the money and effort. New Zealand, by contrast, is stunningly beautiful just about everywhere, is quite compact and makes it easy to do an active trip, friendlier people, and in general gives you more bang for the buck. While I wouldn't regret not seeing Australia again, NZ is still on my must see place despite already visiting three times. |
+1 we loved Sedona for it beauty. however the town itself was quite boring. We are by no means party people, but it was even too quiet for us. We're talking Dinner rust at 5pm and everything was shut down by 8. |
