That's actually been predicted. Dems wouldn't want to vote for the bill if their votes actually were the ones that put it over the line, but if the Rs can get it done on their own, the D's will then vote "yes." |
It's not the same thing. Dems simply purchase votes by handing out free stuff to poor people. A bribe, basically. Corporate tax reform put forth by the Rs, on the other hand, will boost the economy and benefit everyone. |
You've got to fucking be kidding! Do you realize the 70+percent of the country hates it? This is the last ditch effort for our is to take all the money they can as the Titanic is sinking. |
^^ last ditch effort for Rs, not ours. |
So what? The majority of the country was opposed to Obamacare, and the Dems voted for it anyway. I bet there will be at least two yes votes from Dems.....maybe more. |
It would be hilarious if any Democratic senators voted for the tax bill because they may want to argue to their constituents that they are voting for lowering taxes but ........ they would also be voting to repeal the individual mandate which is the foundation for the financial viability of the ACA. |
This opinion piece in a Cleveland paper argues that raising federal income taxes on residents who live in high tax areas (through a repeal of the SALT deduction) will prove a disaster for what he describes as legacy cities such as Cleveland, Cincinnati, Toledo and Youngstown.

The high local property tax areas are outside the urban core and many like Chagrin Falls have NJ level taxes BUT those types of areas have very small school districts, perhaps their own police force, etc. Not comparable to MOCO or Fairfax. So MOCO and FX are high also but cover social services for a varied population as well education costs. |
History says this isn't so. |
+1. Also, economists say it isn’t so. |
The majority of the country is for the ACA now and is opposed to the lifting of the individual mandate in this bill. |
Yep. How to turn Ohio blue in a heartbeat? Get the suburban Cleveland and Cincy voters aligned with East Cleveland and other predominately African-American voters. |
GOP leaders just slipped a provision into the final tax bill creating a special tax cut for income made off real estate LLCs. The provision wasn’t in the House or Senate bills — they just added it to the final bill.
I wonder who benefits from that. |
Bob Corker. Not kidding. |
And Donald Trump, bigly. |
