| OP what do you consider urban ... coming from Dallas your perspective will be very different. Unfortunately your budget isn't going to get you much in the very best neighborhoods. |
Are you the same poster who said "yuck" to Cleveland Park?
|
Nope, just Georgetown. |
Georgetown isn't really part of Washington. It was its own town before DC was created. So you are correct. But likely offering advice about a place you never lived with children. If you read this boards section on preschools you will be able to assess Georgetown and other neighborhood's preschools. There are 3 bedroom townhouses in Georgetown within OPs budget. It is a different style of life, akin to Capitol Hill in some ways. |
This. And consider where you are working. Depending on where you are going some parts of the suburbs can be more " urban" than parts on DC. Particularly Bethesda, Silver Spring, Arlington |
There is nothing similar to Capitol Hill and Georgetown. Have you even been to both of these places? Maybe Georgetown of 25 years ago and Capitol Hill of today, but your statement is so categorically untrue. |

I’m late to this party but I’d buy in ludlow taylor, jo Wilson or Watkins. I love Capitol Hill. It’s my favorite area of the city. We have friends IB for all three schools and they all have said good things.
I always see on here people say “don’t buy Capitol Hill because of middle school”. Well not everyone can afford a space that fits their needs WOTP, me included. There are a lot of families on the hill that make it work. |
The strip clubs in Glover do give it some of that gritty urban vibe. |
Georgetown is more like Washington than "Dee-cee" (aka Barryville). |
Million dollar AU homes would be backyard tool sheds in Dallas. |
Agreed. John Eaton in Cleveland Park is still weighted down with too much OOB. |

| Did anyone not see this thread playing out almost exactly as it has? |
they sure do keep people like you away!

Yes! It’s so repetitive, even down to the bigot who references Barry and hasn’t been in DC in years based on his moronic posts. |
