Homework load in 5th and 6th grades at basis dc?

Anonymous
There have been several long BASIS threads in the last six months alone. Many 6th grade parents have chimed in. You see the same messages over and over. To recap:

*Nightly HW takes around 1-2 hours. The kid has to keep up to avoid getting stressed out.
*A kid with executive function issues, however mild, will probably need help becoming sufficiently organized to stay on top of HW assignments given by 8 or 9 different teachers.
*You may need to get a math tutor, or do your own tutoring if you can, if the child struggles with math.
*Parents say that 5th and 6th grades work for most kids, while 7th and 8th grades don't work well for a good third.

Great. Thank you for the summary! We will take our spot and worry about the other years as they come.
