i've never had a problem with any of BR or Anthropologie clothes falling apart. of course, maybe its because i'm super careful about the way i wash/dry-clean clothing. and IMHO i don't consider BR trendy...anthropologie yes, but not BR. |
BR is for fairly neutral basics. Anthropology is more fun. I haven't had a problem with premature falling apart from either store, though I'm also meticulous about following care instructions. I wonder if the poster expects the clothes to last longer than a season or two of frequent wearing? I think that's part of the built-in obsolescence. There's not a lot of reason for women's clothes to last much beyond the season in which they were purchased. The next year's version will always be updated. |
well, i'm not sure about just lasting one season. i expect my clothes to last a few years, but eventually things just fall out of style/cut. if my clothes can last 3-5 years then i'm happy. |
My BR stuff has always fallen apart fast, to the point I've stopped buying there. It's mostly J Crew for me. |
The tops I have purchased at Target have definitely outlasted the ones I have purchased at Anthropolgie. I got the cutest Ella Moss shirt there and it had a hole in it after only being worn twice. |
I do not get the anthropologie obsession - I don't think the clothes are nice enough for the money they want. I have only bought something there once, and it was massively marked down and in the clearance racks. I agree that I have gotten shirts at Target that hold up much better for a fraction of the cost. |
Women who dress half their age remind me a bit of guys going through mid-life crisis. You know the whole scene: buys a sports car, dyes his hair or gets a toupee. Yet everybody has a rough idea of his age because he has adolescent kids, a big mortgage, and is fighting for partner. |
That sounds like the Mclean dads - 70, third marriage, kids ranging from 2 to 25, third wife over the top with the age crisis issue. But let's not get into the plastic surgery debate here.
But really, as long as people are comfortable and not infringing on others space..... Now looking is another thing, you might simply NOT look! The Southern women are the funniest, they are so obvious they are offended by something, they end up making an ass out of themselves. |
Ladies,
to those of you who feel young, and are confident in how you look - have FUN with your clothes. I am waiting to get my figure back after #3 and am dressing like I'm 15 years older than I am. It's making me crazy! I admire all of you who are enjoying flaunting what you've got. For those who worry about others wearing something not "age appropriate" - loosen up! |
i agree! i'd rather see a 45 year old woman in something too young than see her in some matching floral ankle skirt and shapeless matching t-shirt. |
