I miss my prewar home that had normal-sized rooms. In the newer, bigger homes, the rooms tend to be so big and require giant furniture.
I also hate needing to drive for EVERYTHING. My husband really wanted a yard and I was happy in a condo in town. He has come around and agrees that we’ll go back to a condo that’s within walking distance of shops and restaurants eventually. |
| I agree with PPs that if you clean your own home, it's very possible to get too big. I clean my own home and I care a lot more about efficiency and good design than size. Those enormous bedrooms in particular bug me. All i can see is vacuuming and baseboards. I love handy closets, though, and I think it's good for kids over 10 or so to have their own rooms. |
| I’m the opposite. Wish we had gone slightly bigger. Our house is about 2200 sq feet with a basement that’s not very functional. I think btw 3500-4000 would be ideal for a family of 4. |

4 people, 3 dogs, nearly 4000sqft on almost 2 acres. 3 car garage, large screened porch, pool, dedicated guest room, plenty of space and privacy.
It's nice. I wouldn't want to live in a smaller place. Maybe later, but not now. |
