Trump and Anti-Semitism

I am really confused. We are not debating whether Trump is anti-Semitic. Do you constantly return to this straw man because:

1) you don't believe there are anti-Semites supporting Trump;

2) because you don't believe that Trump dodged questions about that support and Melania blamed the victim;

3) because you don't care about anti-Semites with whom you are allied; or

4) you are glad to have anti-Semitic support because you actually agree with the sentiments?

This thread is a prime example.

Surely, both Hillary and Trump supporters will have anti semites in their voter pools. And misogynists, anti catholics, anti muslims, anti immigrants, anti all kinds of things. For me personally, I do not in any way attribute any of these sentiments to either candidate. If i were trump, i wouldnt even lower myself to any anti semitism discussion because he has zero association with it. Its so base, i wouldnt go there.

Exactly. Simple common sense.

Whether he wanted to lower himself to it or not, he was directly asked about the issue. He dodged the question. Twice. Melania went further and said the journalist brought the attacks on herself. Trump sent out multiple tweets today about something he saw on CNN. Yet, he can't bring himself to respond to a direct question about anti-Semitism?

I guarantee that if Clinton is asked about any anti-anythings that have launched attacks against her critics, she will denounce them. She won't dodge the question or blame the victims.

I really wouldn't want to get into how Hillary blames victims. That wouldn't help your cause here, would it?

It would just be one more indication of how you are willing to talk about anything other than the anti-Semitic attacks on Trump opponents that Trump refuses to denounce. For someone who thinks this discussion is a waste of time, you are certainly spending a lot of time discussing it -- or at least finding ways not to discuss it.

I don't understand why anti-Semites support Trump.

Last week’s release of the Barack Obama/Derrick Bell Harvard tape was seen by many as another example of the President’s long history associating with radicals.
There is another interpretation, however. When Obama urged people to open up their hearts and minds to Bell, it was another case of him “cozying up” to an antisemite. Understand–we are not talking about people who are anti-Israel (although there is a huge crossover of the two) but people who regularly use antisemitic stereotypes or more directly derogatory comments about Jews.

It has not been a good month for presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. Not only is Bernie Sanders coming up on her in the clubhouse turn, but Hillary’s recently exposed emails reveal praise for professional anti-Semite Max Blumenthal. The likes of this sort of praise have not been seen since the notorious David Duke commended Blumenthal for exposing the evils of Zionism despite his Jewish name and Jewish face.

Yet there they are. I guess they see something in him that you can't.

This. They are reading into Trump what they want to. They have heard his statements on illegal immigrants and drawn the conclusion that Trump is a white nationalist sympathizer who is anti-Semitic. I don't believe he is but he will tolerate them as long as they are useful and needed.
