Trump and Anti-Semitism

that is an article which says more about the author than the subject, just dripping with spite and envy. "Melania Knauss was 28, a tall, shy brunette whose face had yet to acquire the taut, plasticine squint that makes it look as if cameras are forever catching her a second before a sneeze." I did not find any anti-semitism in that article (must have missed it between all the cat clawing) , but there was a lot of catty asides about Melania. Envy, obviously "Is she in her penthouse, a gilded triplex in the Trump Tower? Perhaps somewhere out on the campaign trail? While she’s a crowd-pleaser on the stump, she appears infrequently and only when she deigns to. "... and a whole section about her breasts.
And this "journalist" requires Melania to come to her defense?

You are missing the point. No one said the GQ post is flattering or anti-semitic. The author is Jewish!! The issue is that the author was attacked for writing the article, including receiving some very severe anti-Semitic threats and slurs.

Melania's response was to say that the author provoked them:

Squint? Wow now THAT is racist.

The article was provocative and the journalist played the victim card, which was probably her intent all along. And more than "a little bit mean" to quote Melania. It is aburdto expect that Melania or the Trump family to leap to the defense of this "journalist"

The journalist was the victim of anti-Semitic attacks. A person who opposed anti-Semitism would respond to a question about those attacks by saying, "While I think the article deserved criticism, obviously I denounce any attacks on the author's religion. As a family with Jewish members, we of course oppose anti-Semitism and wouldn't want to be associated with such attacks." Melania, on the other hand, not only didn't denounce such attacks, but seemed to condone them.

Instead of denouncing the attacks, Melania said the author brought the attacks on herself. That seems like Melania thinks the attacks are justified, but I'm open for other interpretations. Of course, it also seems like posters in this thread have suggested the attacks were justified. Those posters are also welcome to clarify.

Me thinks a busy presidential candidate has other priorities than defending his relationships with Jewish people, including his children.

He's a New Yorker, for God's sake. If you have a problem with Jews, best to get the eff out of NY.

Please don't bother repeating that's not what you said. Everyone can clearly see what you're saying... and decide for themselves what it really "seems" like you're saying.

Just like you took the time to write, but not to criticize the anti-Semites, Trump took time to dodge two direct questions about the anti-Semitism. Why do you and Trump find so much time to anything except condemn anti-Semitism?

The issue is not what I'm saying, it is what you and Trump are not saying.

Here's where I actually did say that all politicians should denounce bad people.

This includes Trump and the bad anti-Semite.

Here we go... for the third (and last) time. Thank you.

Verily, without question, the dems have Anti-israel supporters. Does Hillary denounce them?

First of all, I don't understand why it is easier to compose this sort of message than it is to simply write, "I agree that the anti-Semitism among some Trump supporters is troubling". But, at least we know where your priorities are. Second, Clinton is strongly pro-Israel. She denounces those she sees as critical of Israel all the time. Right now the Sanders folks want the Democratic platform to say that the US will be even-handed between Israel and the Palestinians. Clinton is opposing that:

http://www.inquisitr.com/3117447/bernie-sanders-to-demand-dnc-adopt-even-handed-israel-policy/

Clinton has denounced the BDS movement:

https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/2158218-hillary-clintons-letter-to-haim-saban-against-bds.html

Here Clinton criticizes Sanders for his position on Israel:

http://www.politico.com/story/2016/04/hillary-clinton-israel-bernie-sanders-221771

I really don't understand why this is such a difficult topic for Trump supporters. The best you can do is one single poster who opposes all bad people. Not one of you can bring yourself to explicitly criticize the anti-Semitic attacks we have seen. You will do practically anything else besides that.

Any Sanders supporters who are toying with the idea of voting for Trump should pay attention to this discussion. The Trump supporters on DCUM are far from the most extreme members of the group. Yet, even they are comfortable being in a coalition with anti-Semites. Do you really want to be partners with them?

Thats it.
