Should white Americans be called "Indigenous Europeans?"

Huh? They are from South America. That makes them Latino. Or do you think that merely being from South America is insufficient, and you also have to be brown? Alberto Fujimori and Eva Person were not Latino? Pope Francis is not Latino?

^^^Eva PERON. Stupid autocorrect.

Do you want everyone to go back where they started? I get to pick from about 5 current countries? Send back all people from India etc in the UK and we will repopulate from the USA?

The American Revolution was a remarkable event. Laws, jurisdictions, finace a war and a government, forming a functioning government. Really unbelievable that it was accomplished. If it didn't succeed? I guess we would be like Canada or Australia.

I am not going to argue with ex-Iranians that prefer to be called Persian. I know many Persian Americans. It's like Italian American now so let them define themselves as they wish. Countries like Belgium now have citizens who are not of their culture or laws. Persian Americans [Muslim or Christian] are again like Italian Americans.

I'm of the "indigenous European" stock most of which is the American Classic Mut. Spain is in Europe so WTF with Latino? German descent fr SA even get benefits without a drop of Latino.

Belgium is a funny example to use here, since there is no such thing as Belgian ethnicity. Just ask the Flemings and the Walloons.

Nothing funny about Belgium. Canada has Quebec but it is still in Canada. 2 groups are Belgian. Now it seems there are 3 groups in belgium but 1 of the 3 has it's own rules.

You are conflating culture and citizenship. There are Belgian citizens, but there is no "Belgian culture".

Why? Because you wanted to distinguish yourself from 'Black'. Because in those times, people were White, Black (also named by whites), Dark skinned (also named by white), Redskinned (also named by whites) or Oriental (also named by whites).

So this designation is of your own making to distinguish superiority in that 'pristine, White, pure, godly' kind of way over POC.

You even decided Caucasian had to be defined as White, even though that is the correct geographical designation of people of from not only Europe but also from Northern Africa, South Asia, Western Asia and Central Asia.

So OP, you're simply complaining about a term that was invented by none other than "White People".

My guess is that now in 2016 you're feeling left out of having a hyphenated term and are scratching to feel like you belong to something more because you are so far removed from your ancestry and culture of origin. But you're probably also one of those people that telling other hyphenated Americans to assimilate already and stop saying "well in my culture".

Are you under the impression that there is some kind of white original sin?

Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg are the Low Countries straddling "Latin"-France Europe and Germanic Europe. Belgique was around in the Roman Empire. Location made it a battleground of Europe. I first heard about belgium as a kid from WW2 vets who were there. People are different than French or German or Netherlands. Blends of the others culturally but are their own country.

Yes, of course Belgium is its own country. Nobody is disputing this -- well, except for the Flemish and the Walloons.
