And a boy named Samuel, Sampson, or simply Sam - he'll always be called Sam or Sammy.

We have FOUR Sam's (3 boys and 1 girl) between 3 classrooms in our child's school.

Also ditto to Max: either Maxwell, Maximilian or simply Max, they'll all be called Max.

We flip flop from Maxwell to Max all the time, but it's mostly Maxwell.
As for unusual names, my nephews are Henson and Hawksley. I joke with my sister that if they were hipsters in their 20's they would open a bar in Brooklyn called the Hen and Hawk and serve grass fed beef burgers with farm-to-table salads and small batch bourbon mixed drinks. Of course, I love them dearly, and their names suit them perfectly in reality.

Yea and they are a professional couple in their mid thirties who named their girl/boy twins that. Hipster yes but still you'd think only a 17 year old girl would name her children that.

This is reminding me of the picture at my IL's of my nephew's baseball team in TX. Here were my favorite names - Aeron, Zerek and Kohltyn.

No idea of the background of the parents, but since my BIL is a total loser living at home with his parents in his 40s with his 2 kids he had with someone barely out of her teens at the time who has since basically walked out of their lives, I don't have a lot of hope that these are children of UMC parents who just went a little wacky with naming.
