As a moderate, please allow me to welcome with open arms all the former Republicans, and your so-called "RINOs," to vote with the Democratic party. We often-forgotten moderates have happily succeeded for over 20 years now in keeping the Democratic party positioned as the party of pragmatic, commonsense solutions. If your join us in voting for the pragmatic Democrats, then we can continue to chart a moderate course for the government (at least at a national level). We welcome you. |
And yet bills do get passed. Gay people now have the right to marry. Obamacare passed. Your issue is that the majority of American people ("we the people") still believe in the constitution and the second amendment. What many of you are trying to do is to get Congress to enact a law that is unconstitutional. Why are you surprised that Congress has not been successful? |
The last two congresses have passed fewer bills than almost any in history. Gay marriage was not a bill passed through congress, it made it's way through the courts and local legislatures. Obamacare happened like 7 years ago when a party controlled the house, senate and presidency so nothing remotely close to today. The majority of Americans support sensible gun control but are being drowned out by NRA lobbyists. Sorry you're not a fan of the truth. |
Beat me to the punch. For a minute I thought I must have been sleeping when the GOP-controlled Congress passed legislation overturning DOMA and legalizing marriage for same sex couples. I hasten to point out that a majority of Americans support the ACA, including provisions for Medicare expansion, eliminating exclusions for preexisting conditions and allowing children to remain on their parents' coverage, and yet Congress is working on another bill to repeal the law despite the cost savings that have been realized. Is it any surprise that many conservatives support Trump because they are too poorly informed to know better? |
