Any Eaton parents who can comment, since it looks like she rotated through Eaton this past year?

Yes, eaton parent here. Jade Brawley is an outstanding individual. Professional, top notch educator, kind, smart, experienced, great sense of humor, loves her students, staff seemed to love her. You name it, she has it. She helped our school when our principal had an extended medical leave this year.
The sheperd community is very lucky.
congratulations to Ms. Brawley!

Thanks, Eaton parent! Sad to see current principal go, but your assessment of Ms. Brawley is encouraging. Looking forward to meeting her in a couple months.

Any word when DCPS will announce all the principal changes for 2015-2016? Anyone know all 22 principals with 3-year contracts?

Not sure about the principal announcements but I don't think they will share who the 22 principals with the 3-year contracts are because that's probably against personnel confidentiality rules.

Murch's principal got one--he announced it on his blog last week. Great to have that stability through the renovation.

Murch principal (Mr. C) is great. Love him.

Any updates on other schools? West, Powell, Bancroft?

West principal was selected: Megan Vroman. I'm not sure how to link to the messages - we just got it on our parent group.

Any school that gets Ibis Villegas should be very concerned and better have phenomenal admin and operation staff to support her. Can't manage her way out of a wet paper bag with holes in it. She's pretty good at early childhood, but not exactly an expert above that level. Notorious for playing favorites with teachers, being dismissive of parents, and at times ambivalent towards kids. Talks a good game, but not a deep thinker.

Hopefully she's improved after being in the fellowship. If not, you've been warned.

Can anyone post a link?

Why is DC so infatuated with Teach For America candidates?

I think she actually got her masters in education and then went to work at Teach for America as a manager.

2 years of classroom teaching experience?

Sorry, West, but I hope Vroman was more impressive in person than she is on paper. She hasn't held a job or done anything more than 2 years at a time. She's only worked for 7 years, and just two of them as a middle school teacher.
