I know the PG county (yes, it's PG) address and phone number for this family (via simple google search). I know they don't live in the DC house because I am friends with the people who own the house!
It appears these cheaters picked an address out of the phone book and it worked (so far).
I will keep emailing and calling until this is resolved.
I hate this kind of deception.

That sounds ridiculous. A random address??? Ummm.... No way! How did they give any proof of residency then?

Did you read the thread?

Change address online at work, print new paycheck with address. That's all the school requires.

Pay stub showing DC taxes are being withheld, along with other piece of document is required.

I send my kid to DCPS and proving residency is pretty easy. If someone questioned my kids, it would be very simple to prove their right to attend.

It's not always easy. I'm a native Washingtonian and a homeowner, but I don't drive and don't own a vehicle. My XH had to register the kids.

It's a lot to put someone through because of OP's sense of righteousness. Google has me at an address in New Orleans, during a portion of grad school. It's like citing Wikipedia as far as I'm concerned, cuz of course the Internet is never wrong.

If you own a home, that is proof enough. What's the real deal ?

Not true. Your deed or mortgage payments are not considered proof of residency for school purposes. You can own a home, but rent it out to another family. So, whose residence is it.

Let me just say again, I do not know what sort of meanspirated harpy would even assume a car with Maryland plates indicates residence fraud and that they should commence stalking a child's parents for the common good of all... but man, you ladies have serious, serious issues.

In our time in dc I have met families whose parents live in different states, and families where children or parents are living with extended relatives, not always in the most secure situations. Again, because I am not a sociopathic asshole who would probably be happier in McLean than in the dcps at all, I would not inquire or even wonder further.

I also have been known to accept that sometimes in this world, other people can also have nice things.

Stokes parent here. Residency cheating is pretty rampant at Stokes and the school really doesn't care. My son's best friend lives in MD. The mother admitted it. He's had sleepovers at his house. We reported it to OSSE and the school, they were told that they had been reported and they submitted the same fradulent documents as before, which were happily accepted by the school.

The trouble is that the system is broken. Part of the reporting procedure asks the parent doing the reporting to prove which fraudulent documents the residency frauds turned into the school. How am I supposed to know that?

This type of fraud (Marylander using a fake DC address) makes me crazy.

Why do you care what others are doing? How does it affect you? Do you have proof that this child has absolutely NO ties to DC?

My child's class is overcrowded.
I push hard on this one.

Ok, fair enough.

Disagree. Calling once is fair enough. This twat has announced she will call WEEKLY. That's overzealous and borders on harassment. I hope the child's family is actually in-bounds, and I hope they are informed who made the call. That's only fair under due process.

Is this a family where one parent lives inDC and the other inMD with joint custody?

I have been in DC schools for 6 years. A paycheck is consider tier 1. You do NOT need any other piece of evidence if you provide paycheck.

One of the following items:

Pay stub showing:
a. Issue date within the past 45 days;
b. Name of person enrolling the student;
c. Current DC home address; and
d. Withholding of DC taxes for the current tax year.

Is one is already living in DC but IB for Noyes elementary, there will already be YTD for DC taxes, just change address to a NW address of your desired school or even if you're in MD, just change your address with HR earlier in the year.

Reported your son's best friend huh? Wow.

When my kids were in school, there was a big problem with out of district kids going to their schools. Parents using other people's addresses, using work addresses, just making up addresses because the schools in our district were highly rated and they wanted their kids to go there.

The school sent out people to check car tags to see if they matched addresses. If they didn't, your kid was taken out of school and parents fined $1000.

The first year this was implemented 300 kids were in violation and all taken out of school. You may think it's mean to tattle but in this case it's not. Aside from tax revenue not being accounted for, federal and state money gets taken also. That impacts your kids in every way.

+1000. I get that it's wrong and illegal, but where is your humanity? Have you no soul?

The liberals on here are absolutely disgusting. Residency cheating is stealing from a deserving DC resident child. This is not a victimless crime. Perhaps it's my neighbor, a great little girl completely shut out, or yours, or a deserving low income child who's chance was just stolen. People who steal seats are not good people and should be removed. You want to tap into our very limited resources, move here and pay taxes.
