It was, earlier in the thread.

Yikes. DD is headed there in the fall. Sight unseen. What's so bad about it?

AU has a perfectly fine campus - don't worry. It will never be voted among the most beautiful or interesting campuses, but it's in a safe part of the city and I'm sure it has all of what she will need to do fine. Frankly, it's a much nicer campus than a few I saw when looking with my own DD last year. Saw some beautiful campuses and then saw some real dudes…

Also, Washington DC is a great place to go to school! I came here 20+ years ago and stayed…she'll have a good time.

Maybe it's both!

If the knowledgeable AU posters are still around: where would you recommend to do the dorm shopping? We'll fly into Dulles and stay at a Marriott near campus. But we're planning to buy all dorm stuff once we get to DC. Thanks!

I'm not an AU pister but there's a Container Store on Wisconsin Avenue nit far from the school.

Thanks! DD received several Container Store gift cards as graduation gifts.

bWAH-HA-HA-HA. I know the school has "come up" in recent years, especially the film school, but seriously? I went to a recent graduation. It truly is the University of Spoiled Children.

Perhaps. But its very competitive for admission.

But, seriously, no one goes there for the academics. It's a party school. My cousin transferred in there from a community college and was appalled by the greek scene.

My DD's appalled by the greek scene anywhere. USC doesn't have the monopoly on bad behavior. Or rich kids.

Phhhft- Spring Valley in NW DC. Expensive homes on large lots for a city and the lovely AU Park. Get thee to North Philadelphia.

But what about all the buried toxic munitions waste?

We toured Washington & Lee in the Spring. I was surprised how much I disliked it. So was DC.
