What did Hollywood fill it with? I shudder to think. |
St Elmo's fire... Rob Lowe on frat row!! National Treasure, species ,life 101, x files!! Tons of TV shows. Georgian architecture. I love it. |
Well, thank you for providing the laugh of the evening for us. |
Nothing wrong with the style but the execution at Maryland is poor and lacking in imagination. It's not inspiring at all. |
^^ but it is still better at math, computer science, engineering, chemistry, and history than UVA !!
Also more national championships, Nobel alumni, fields medal , Emmy , academy award and Pulitzer alumi, Alumni created/invented Google, the muppets , the octane system , Underarmour , Nautica , Seinfeld , the wire , broke watergate , the hybrid engine , coronary stents , the universal product code , pulse Dopplar radar , the Jumbotron , linear programming , the automatic parachute , miniaturized insulin pumps , Sirius satellite radio , Outback Steakhouse , Apollo 13 , diary of a wimpy kid, liberty meadows , boondocks , retractable landing gear , frequent flyer systems . UVa alum invented/ created the real estate title search. |
| Better at physics.. Not history ( the easy stuff ) |
Umd did not execute slaves on its campus like UVA , but the plantation look was not the goal. |
Wrong. Slavery was big business in Maryland too. Go check the Mason-Dixon Line. |
|
^^^Different poster here. I think the key word is `execute.`
I wasn't aware of this part of UVA history but will research to confirm. I never take any DVUM history as factual or anywhere else without checking it out. |
| I know there's one poster who is big on College Park's list of alumni contributions, but seriously has anyone ever gone to that campus and said "wow." We just thought it was so generic and forgettable. It looked about as interesting as the state rest stops on 95. |
| Sad that the UMD poster goes on and on and still no one is impressed. |
This isn't a thread on colleges that make your jaw drop - I don't think there is one east of the Mississippi. I think UMD-CP is pretty representative (generic if you will) - which is likely one reason it appears in films. I happen to think the alum produced by a school is important, but it has nothing to do with the campus. |
Right. The UMD poster missed the point of the thread entirely. |
|
I think the Umd campus is perfect. Generic Georgian architecture, area one of the lowest in violent crime in the ACC ( lower crime than Charlottesville ) , but not comfortable for wussies.
I think it's part of the reason Umd alumni are so unusually accomplished . |
Umd poster will not let a thread die. Even when it's dead for every other poster besides the umd poster. |
