We have a kiddo in one of the toddler rooms. We like it fine enough (kiddo REALLY likes it), the cameras are FABULOUS, but there's been some turnover and new faces which makes it hard to gauge. Feels to me like they're still finding their way, which isn't surprising, but there are positives, and so far we're happy.
Apparently they're still waiting on approval (city? state? I forget) for the new playground. |
We have a 2 year old in the 2s room and I cant say enough about this facility. We used to attend Bright Horizons but having the cameras and a Director that is willing to add/change programs based on our needs is above and beyond what we used to have! We also loved BH but this place has a different feel that we really enjoy. Daycare staff typically have high turnover but so far we have seen little of that here (for now at least)! I want to try, as a parent, to better support the teachers so that they will stay!! Sometimes it is more about the teachers than a facility. At the end of the day, that is who is with your kid so it matters most! |
We have a baby in the infant room. We've been there for four months and I can't say enough great things about the teachers, the owner and new director (who is not so new anymore). They are so caring and SUCH hard workers. The infant leads are so sweet and my son LOVES his teacher. Agree that DT has a very different feel than other daycares - it feels more like a community and all the parents are so friendly and everyone says hello. I love parent night out, the monthly newsletters, and the events like the fall festival that the owner hosts for the families. The cameras are AMAZING. I can't ever go back to not having a camera. Our child in the last four months has learned to walk, self feed, take a sippy cup, learn sign language (all done, milk please, and no, thank you) all at DT. In the infant room, they also have a structure like the toddler room, story time, arts and crafts, buggy rides, music. The infant and toddler teachers just spent a weekend at an early childhood dev conference. They are all very caring, and hard workers. The owner and director are very open to suggestions and you can call at anytime if you see something. They definitely had a few bumps at the start especially with the old director, but I will say this, they corrected and admitted their mistakes right away, and that to me is a 180 difference from our previous daycare. And the last three months after they hired the new director, has been great for us. |
Thanks for the feedback! I'm curious, if you feel comfortable sharing, what was your previous daycare? Was it in the Del Ray/Old Town area? You could not have been there that long if your child is still in the infant room (unless that was for an older child, I guess). |
I dont wish to share on such a public forum which daycare we were in previously, but it was in Old Town. Also, the infant room goes up to 16 months or so (they work with you to determine when your child should move up) |
Totally understand, and thanks for the info about the infant room. |
You're welcome! |
I was thinking about DTCL until I saw the violations and high turnover. There are just too many unknowns for me. |
I'm not there, but isn't that to be expected in the first few months of a new center? |
I have a Three year old girl who needs to start school soon, but it is really tough narrowing down the schools. How does everyone feel about DTLC now that it has been open for almost a year? |
I'd like to know if there's any updates on this daycare as well |
Bump. |

Their last inspection on Feb 27th had no violations so maybe this center is starting to hit its stride. Personally I'm going to wait until they have a few more good inspections before considering it for my son. |
