It is not PC to say (and I am an AA), but your demographic makeup (wink-wink) is the factor. First and second generation Hispanic students are for the most part very different that AA students. All jokes aside.....african american poverty and the behaviors, rituals, and mindset of the poverty stricken AA population is far different than other groups. Hip hop culture and the behaviors and mindset it promotes has and is crippling a subroup of our people at a very young age.

Oh, so "FARM" is code for black kids.

In Maryland it Menes illegal alien who also eats up ESOL funding too.

Menes never did learn to speak English

FARMS has nothing to do with race.

But that said, kids who embrace a gangsta mindset make themselves slaves, because nobody will ever take them seriously, nobody will want to hire them, nobody will respect them, nobody will trust them, nobody will want to help them, nobody will want to befriend them... And in that circumstance life is so much worse.

Slave to their own poor life choices.

Yeah you can believe FARMS has nothing do with race as so does the word acronym of SES is also non-racially descriptive. Send your child to the newly opened Wizard of Oz Charter School.

South as in where slavery began?

No, that would be East.

Only according to your own myopic perspective. Perhaps you've lived under a rock here in DC most of your life - you really need to get out more.

FARMS and low SES varies from place to place. Here in DC, it just happens to be majority AA. In other places in the US it's majority Hispanic. In other places in the US it's majority White. There are some communities in the US where it's majority Vietnamese. And so on.

Your own shortsighted perspective is no reflection on what others know to be true.

Desperate to blame everything on racism. Maybe you should open your own Wizard of Oz Charter School where students are taught to wave a magic wand and have racism be the cause of everything. Spilled coffee? Racism. Late for work? Racism. Flat tire? Racism. Cat stuck up a tree? Racism. It's always gotta be racism, obviously.

Exactly! The slave mentality is no different than the gangsta mentality. When you continue to make poor life choices then you will forever remain a slave to those destructive choices.

Great quote. Sometimes the cruelest limitations can be the ones we put upon ourselves.
