I heard they were doing an arson investigation. I'm not sure how long that takes, but I would imagine months. Insurance is likely doing an investigation also. Many new houses have been built recently on the same street and in the surrounding neighborhood. Most people don't find any difference between a half mile north of Kirby and a half mile south, besides Kent Gardens vs. Haycock.
Not much difference. North of Kirby off Westmoreland is McLean, south of Kirby off Westmoreland is Falls Church and then Arlington. This house is south of Kirby in FC.
Exactly. Other than the name, what is the difference? Same schools, same tax district, same housing stock, equal amount of teardowns. Driving down Westmoreland, one would never know they crossed from McLean to Falls Church.
You will probably pay more for the McLean address. Several developments in the part of Falls Church/22043 near McLean have "McLean" in their title, but you won't find developments in the part of McLean/22101 near Falls Church with "Falls Church" in their names.
The naming has more to do with the schools, tax district, and sports leagues. They say McLean, because it's McLean schools. People in this area purchase there, because it is McLean schools. I'm not sure of the price, as the new builds all seem to be in the $1.2M to $1.7M range. I haven't noticed a difference in price between the Kent Gardens home prices and Haycock home prices. The Haycock area is walkable to the West Falls Church metro, which may be more of a draw for some.
