OMG, I couldn't even read past the 1st page of this thread!! It's NOT all about good genes!! With pg #1 I had the same condition Kate had. I literally threw up all day, everyday the entire pgs starting at 6weeks. I gain 23lbs and the baby was born at 10lbs so I was also back in pre-pg clothes within a week. Fast forward to 2nd pg and I took medication for the vomiting early in the pg and I ate much, much more. I gain much more weight and did not lose it right away. I also assumed breast feeding would just magically take it off so I ate more than I should have for the following year. It did not come off until I actually changed back to a healthy diet and starting working out again. For many it's not genetics (an excuse overweight people like to believe), it's lifestyle. |
Here's another in that series:
I think it definitely helped (of course) that she was thin/athletic before, but also, her height and having a long torso. I know someone of similar height and body shape, and she also was quite thin after giving birth (she didn't need a C-section, either). |
| It really shouldn't be that surprising. She's naturally thin, capable of working out - which she did to become even thinner for her wedding - and she didn't gain much during the pregnancy. If that were true of you and you had a professional cook & professional trainer in house, you could also rock bare abs 3 months postpartum. |
| Really, don't say "naturally thin" when she probably (1 eats very little and 2) exercises daily. She wasn't this skinny a few years ago... |
My kid is 15, and I still haven't lost the extra weight. I've never worked out much, and I love to eat. I'm not fat, just a bit overweight (size 10-12 most of the time). I don't care about my appearance enough to lose the weight. Katie is photographed constantly. Were I she, I would lose weight pronto post baby. Plus she doesn't have to do much, besides work out, cook if she feels like it, shop and attend charity events, even after giving birth. Please. What a life. |
| She's not naturally thin. Google older pics of her. She was never heavy, but never even close to this thin before her engagement. |
| I also had HG with two babies and was small framed before. 5'8", 125. With each, I struggled to gain weight and then, immediately after giving birth, both times, was the same size as pre-pregnancy. My stomach was not this flat after the second baby but it was after my first. Now, after three kids, I am the same weight still, though I do work out regularly. I was happy to have good genetics on my side for the weight loss but honestly, the stress of the HG outweighed that by a large margin. I would probably have rather had to diet to lose the weight than to struggle through my pregancies in that manner, it was horrific. She is a public figure, I for one, think she looks good and think that she's probably blessed with a personal trainer, a chef and good genes. |
Maybe she's not exercising as much so she doesn't have the muscle (and appetite) that she did before as an athlete? Her frame is very thin though - hips, etc. Same as her mom and sister. So I think she's got some natural thinness. Just not covered up with as much muscle/college chub as before. |
I was rounder in HS and college. At 24--like her-- my body morphed. I am 43 and the same size from ages 24- now (even with 2 45lb pregnacy weight gains in my 30s). I know so many girlfriends in which we were all heavier in college. I also have been super athletic my whole life. A famous supermodel (can't recall which one) talked about how girls --somewhat hormonal--have rounder faces and bodies around 16-20. Definitely me. I was a late bloomer. Hot in my mid 20s-mid 30s. That seems to be her case too. |
Wow. This was me exactly too. |
| I lost all my pregnancy WEIGHT within 10 days of giving birth both times, but I was still MUCH bigger around the middle. |
