Re: the National Geographic Afghan girl... Those aquamarine eyes are not rare in Afghanistan. I'd see one or two people each day with that coloring. Most stunning is the babies, because they put kohl (or charcoal if they're poor) around the babies' eyes to protect them from evil spirits. So basically these light-eyed, dark-haired babies are wearing black eyeliner. I did a doubletake (and tried to sneak a photo) every time I saw that. Anyway, the NG girl isn't out of the ordinary in her coloring. It was a gorgeous photo, though.

Such light colored eyes are extremely common in Afghanistan, northern Pakistan, even Northern India

I guess that we're always fascinated by what we don't have.

Duh. This is why men are fascinated with boobs.

A penis doesn't fascinate me. I mean . . . I don't feel like staring at it all day.

DH has green eyes and my kids have the most amazing large vibrant blue eyes (big like his--mine are tiny ) with thick , long eyelashes.

+1. This describes my kid and me, too, except I have the long eyelashes as well.
