OP, another mom here. I want to confirm that you did receive the Target card.

I buy a loaf of bread each week for $1 at the grocery store. By the end of the week, I have 3/4 of the loaf left after providing a sandwich with 2 slices 5 days a week plus making grilled cheese at least one night. With the left over loaf I could potentially make pbj, grilled cheese (cheese slices - can ask the deli for a $1 or $2 worth or any dollars amount worth or buy a thing of processed slices if that's the preferred type), french toast (needs one egg and a bit of milk ), or regular toast. And that was all from the same $1 loaf. ( I don't eat bread myself - only my daughter eats it.)

How does this work..if you make 5 sandwiches + a grilled cheese you are using 12 slices of bread. How is that only a 1/4 of the loaf being used? You buy loaves with 48 slices for $1?

I think she meant to say she has 1/4 of the loaf left. I wondered where she was getting this amazing loaf of bread, too, before I realized

Yes, sorry, I meant there is a 1/4 loaf left.

OP - It's the first week of the month. Either a paycheck and/or govt benefits should have come in this week .... but things are still desperate?

What happened to OP?

She started another thread ... This time pretending she had a son she needed toys for .... And it worked again.

No, Jeff, say it isn't so...

Ugh.. somehow I thought this might be a scam..

Where is the other thread? I've looked and can't find one. Really hope this one hasn't been a scam, it's been very sweet to see such a kind outpouring.

This. Especially after she offered up the bit about the unexpected car battery bill and gas. Too many strange details.

What is your basis for making this claim? There is absolutely no evidence to suggest that this is the case. To the contrary, there is plenty of evidence suggesting the opposite.

The other thread was not started by the OP of this thread. I am confident that the OP of this thread was honest and not attempting a scam of any sort. I don't know whether the other poster was similarly honest, but posters who I do trust have corresponded with that poster and have faith in her.

A lot of people showed remarkable generosity in this thread. It showed a side of DCUM that we don't often see. It is a real shame that someone would come in here and make unsubstantiated accusations such as that I am quoting.
