Closing salutations - business correspondence/emails

Anonymous
I try to end all my emails with "thanks," and I throw in a second "thanks" if possible.

Bob,

Thanks for the reply. I'll facilitate those TPS reports soon, will ping you when ETA is ascertained. Thanks.

Thanks.

Please Don't Capitalize Every Word Of The Closing Salutation (Or The Opening One For That Matter),

Peeved

"I'd rather you not add a cliched inspirational quote in cursive font afterwards, either."

And while you are at it, we don't need a whole paragraph about "only intended for the person sent to and on and on and on", when really you are just saying : meet for lunch at Dennys.

I still like "Stay black, Larla"

I can't stand v/r

Everyone seems to use it here.

My personal favorite is

"thanks..."

As if they're being sarcastic and didn't even mean to say thanks.

That's military. You're taught in military correspondence to use v/r when signing a note to a superior, and to use /r when writing to a subordinate. Plenty of gov folks have picked it up and used it.

FWIW, it annoys me, too--I only used it when on active duty. Find it obnoxious in the private sector.
