Does University of Richmond have any national recognition?

DP . From our northeastern top private Davidson takes smarter higher ranked kids than W&L and Uof R. The latter two are interchangeable and overlap—basically 3rd-4th decile kids who want to go south but cannot get in to UVA or UNC oos, or Wake or Davidson.

Overall the data does not support that.

I’m from the west coast. Richmond would be similar to u Portland or univ if San Diego or places like that out here. No one knows the school even existed unless they happen to know someone that went there or they go on a march madness run.

Jesus Tapdancing Christ. This isn't true at all. University of Richmond is far more prestigious than either of those places.

More prestigious to who though? Maybe it is to people in the mid Atlantic. But most people outside of it know nothing about Richmond.

I'm originally from the west coast and never heard of University of Richmond and only vaguely know of its existence now that I live in the DMV. I also thought that Penn and Penn State were the same school, so I might not be the best data point.

Never heard of it until I moved to DC (I grew up in California and went to university in NYC).

I only knew of it because I dated a NE prep school grad for a few years here in DC and a few of her prep school friends from Connecticut ended up at UR for undergrad. It's akin to a lower-tier NESCAC in terms of reputation, admission rates, and prep'y student body.

I’ll admit I’m ignorant of the prestige of Richmond. That’s the point of this thread right? Whether or not Richmond has national prestige? I’m saying on the west coast it’s no different that the schools I mentioned. Just another university with the city in the name.

As a hiring manager I can assure you that being a Richmond grad would have no factor in a hiring decision, but the same is true of most schools that are smaller than a decent sized high school.

Most people on the west coast aren't familiar with Williams. That doesn't make it equal to the University of Portland.

-apparently not on the w.coast.
I think that’s the point of the original question, perspective from rest of the nation.
I’m originally from the w.coast, only reason I knew of Richmond was because of the ncaa basketball tournament.
