| Sounds too early to tell. The big focus is in 2nd grade and the 2nd grade teacher is he one who has the most impact on the GBRS. Having gone thru this once before, they never even talked to the 1st grade teacher when doing the GBRS. Although each school could be different. Most kids that I know who were rejected from AAP last year had S's especially in core subjects that are advanced at center like math, science, language arts. Although some did get in later on appeal. |
Mine is an august kid, so also the youngest. He always had this problem with things that are not interesting to him. I observed him when trying some extra classes. He comes in, gets into answering questions, but after 15-20 minutes loses interest and will not do well on a similar assignment at that point. So, I started worrying that maybe I am doing him disservice by doing advanced math at home (using additinal non-school books). I cut down on it this year, but we finished 1st grade math book before he went to 1st grade. I just think that he is too tired of 3+2, 2+1 kind of math. |

Finally arrived in mail today - 142, Raw score 45/48, Percentile 99%, Age - 7 Years 1 Month
DS said the test was easy, he completed it in 17 minutes. He is a careless fellow. So I worried that he may missed a few pages/questions because he completed that fast. I thought he either did very well or completely screwed. It was such a relief when I received the score. I admit that I prep'ed him a little with a set of sample test. DS said the real test was easier than the sample one. I don't think DS is genius, but he is very bright, got mostly O's and some G's for his report. Hope he will be able to get in AAP. |
| I was trying not to get caught up in all these NNAT score related threads, but now I'm getting really curious as to how my dc did. Our school still hasn't received the results back yet. Anyone else still waiting? |
| Okay, so maybe we are the only school that still hasn't received the scores. The school doesn't know when the scores will be mailed to them, is there someone I can contact at the FCPS administrative offices that would know? |
Contact the Office of Student Testing: http://www.fcps.edu/pla/ost/ Kathleen F. Oliver, Director Office of Student Testing Fairax Ridge Building 3877 Fairfax Ridge Road, Suite 1300 Fairfax, VA 22030 571-423-1400 |
Thank you! |
PP. did you finally get the scores? |
| Still waiting. I called the number given and was told that all schools had received the scores last month and to ask my school again, which I did and this time they told me they would send them out this week. So frustrating. |
| Sounds like the county really had issues this year with both tests - a lot of angst for a lot of parents. Hope they run things more smoothly next year! |
Oh, gosh. That is frustrating! Sorry you are still waiting. Hopefully you get them SOON! |
