1450. My daughter attended Cornell engineering ED. People put too much emphasis on SAT scores and also think about averages instead of underlying distribution. For example, at Cornell there are multiple colleges so it is misleading to look at overall SATs for Cornell. My sense is that above 1400 SAT colleges start to look at other factors.

Another 1490 - USC (submitted EA)

She sounds like an unpleasant picky brat. Keep her away from the cities at all costs.

Why? Is she not allowed to dislike two specific cities?

Anonymous wrote:There is a big difference between high 1400's and mid 1500's. An appreciable one to admissions officers. Look at the Harvard SFFA data, the Dartmouth study, Caltech, etc.

2 million SAT test takers in 2025
1470 97th percentile
60,000 score 1470 or above
1560 99.5 percentile
10,000 score 1560 or above

Superscoring in the 1400's is common and easy. Superscoring above 1560 is difficult and uncommon. Books have been written about this on regression to the mean, ceiling effect, etc.

Half of all 1560+ SAT scorers attend a T20 college.

Scoring in the 1400s is not common. Did you read your own statistics?

DC was in this range but submitted ACT which was slightly higher comparatively. Very high GPA with greatest difficulty and great ECs (lots of service and leadership). Catholic HS.
WL at Princeton, Harvard and Penn
In at WF, UVA, BC, GU, and ND.

Thanks for the honestly, I feel like DCUM goes nuts when another school like UChicago accepts a 1480 but Yale accepted a 1370 last year (at least the one bragging on social media) and the fake North Dakota student. The Ivies play their own games, they all do. Time to get real.

Yale's 25th percentile SAT is only 1470.

We tend to over exaggerate how many students get a high score.

It’s test-blind but lots of kids like this go to Berkeley from our CA public.
