What the heck are you talking about moron? Made 50% or even more in 5 years buying a house and I have a place to live. You can go rent and wait like those G fund posters for some supposed collapse that isn't happening. |
I agree, we could have kept them longer. But we can afford new ones easily. But it's better than most do. And I bought the one for $50K, sold it for $14K. So paid $36K over 13 years, so about $3K/year And for that I got to drive a luxury SUV that could seat 7 and haul all my kids and their friends and their equipment. So yes, if I couldn't afford it I would keep it longer. But 10 years is still way longer than most people keep their vehicles. |
DP: that is a totally different question. Very different than a boob job just because (unless you are reducing them ). But heck if I had a mastectomy, not sure I'd get implants at this age (50s). Too many issues with them and I already have thyroid and autoimmune issues |
Great answer and I totally agree. In-state or merit-aid equivalent. |
I’m not the PP but wouldn’t get implants after a mastectomy. My 42 year old neighbor got a double mastectomy about a year ago, no implants, and she looks just fine. I’m 51 so definitely not getting them. My mom has implants and no thanks to all that. |

Just today, two things happened:
- I got my 2025 bonus; and - Buffalo Trace came out with 30 year Eagle Rare Bourbon, for which the MSRP is $12,500. I could "afford" it, though it would be lunacy. I'm not buying it. |
Irony is dead. |
Serious question. What kind of shirts does she wear, especially during the summer? |
Most people get new cars every 4-5 year, at most 6. So 10+ years is much longer than most. Also, not a sucker, as I can afford to buy new whenever I want. Had I not had the $$, I would have kept them longer. But look at the 11 year one---got 11K for a car with 130K miles on it that I only paid $30K for (including taxes). So rather than spending $2K on repairs that were starting to be needed, I sold, and in reality then got $13K for the car, not bad for 11 years of driving. Sure I "could do it cheaper" and drive older cars, but then they might not be as reliable. |
DP: I believe you can get padded bras that will provide "the look" when/if you want it. |
Same. DH and I retired early instead. |

We have high HHI but are more about saving money than unnecessary spending. We don’t eat out, don’t drink, have zero designer items. We pass down some clothes with other families who are also high earners, not everyday clothing or toys, but holiday clothing and nice blazers/jackets. Low key car brands.
We do have a very nice home, kids attend private schools, and we do many big vacations but those were our priorities. |
| Luxury cars. DH and I are not car people at all. A friend was trying to convince DH to buy a 100K car and DH just kept saying "why would I get this when I can get basically the same one for $45K" |
