Christians had it pretty good in Iraq until America liberated them. A Christian was even a Vice President. Now, I agree that they would probably prefer to live in Israel. But, they should be thankful for America's assistance.

But Sadaam's Baath party was nominally secular, and in the 1970s and 80s at least it was more about Arab nationalism and a vague third world ideology. That's the only way his minority tribe could dominate the majority shiites. So it's not really surprising that christians did OK there until we kicked Sadaam out.
The cool thing about Sadam Hussien was that since he was secular, he was able to lower his enemies and their families into a wood chipper without feeling guilty about it. I think we could all do without all the guilt and baggage that Christians try to foist on us.

Actually, I believe in that which can be proven. The rest is theory, and I like to consider different theories and which of them sounds most plausible.

since creating the Universe from nothing cannot be proven or duplicated...then, technically we don't exist...I LIKE IT! The weirdest human theory, in my opinion, it guilt...thats why I respect Sadam Hussien..he was able to lower his enemies and their families into a wood chipper without any guilt ! And really, since everything appeared from nothing, and if you don't get caught...is there really anything wrong with that?

Have you been drinking?

1. Your first statement is a logical error. Our existence is not dependent on whether a fact can be proven or duplicated. We either exist, or we don't. Our ability to prove it means nothing.

2. Your argument that there is no morality without God is facile. I'm a Christian, but there are plenty of moral philosophies which do not depend upon God. If you think you can disprove them all with a snarky quote, you are delusional.

3. The universe was not initially "nothing", as you say. In its initial state according to cosmological theory, it was infinitely hot and dense. That is far from nothing. In fact, it is exactly as much "stuff" as there is in the universe today, just in a different form. We may not have the exact details right, but every piece of scientific observation (and there is lots of it) corroborates the theory. Frankly, and I say this as a Christian, the best way to reconcile God and the big bang is that God initiated it. If not, then we are left to believe that he is deliberately deceiving us by planting lies throughout the universe.

atheism...the faith that hot and dense came from nothing...and morality was the offspring of the almighty nothing.

and really who are you to say I can't lower somebody into a woodchipper.... or to abort any potential human.... or incinerate people . You and your God can kiss pergy.

You still don't get it. According to the big bang theory, there was never "nothing". All the matter-energy was always there.

BTW, do you realize that the creator of the big bang theory was a roman catholic priest? It doesn't have anything to do with atheism.

You still don't get it.....intellect will not subdue and conquer evil... only the God of Love who sacrificed his only begotten SON in a perfect act of submission can ... it may take many people until their death-bed to accept it but it's true.

OMG I am a Christian but I can see why you put such little faith in intellect. You have yet to experience it.

When is god going to get around to conquering evil? Is he helping countries ravaged by poverty? Disease? War torn countries? Starving children? What about Haiti? Intellect and compassion are doing their best. What's he waiting for?

What a cop out.

I didn't write that post, but it is a question that has asked too much for you to just say it is a cop out. There is no immediate logic that explains why an all-loving and all-powerful God needed to create a world in which evil occurs. I can perhaps understand that evil among people is the necessary consequence of endowing humans with free will, but that does not explain natural disasters, childhood disease, etc.

I understand that there are thoughtful responses to what I just wrote. But, and I say this as a lifelong Christian, "cop out" is what I hear from Christians who know there must be an explanation but who don't have the answer themselves.
