WIS doesn’t do 1:1 but, says even children in Early Years begin using iPads at school. Early Years begins at age 3.

That is true to every school I mentioned, curious as to why you called out WIS specifically.

I don't believe the debate was over there couldn't be any tech used, but whether an ipad was stuck in children's hands as the primary learning tool too early.

OP is clearly trying to dissuade people from applying to private and is worried about competition. I wonder how many kids she has that will be going through admissions in the coming years...

And no, "top tier" tracks at various public do not compare with the teaching OR the curriculum. Public schools have been in a decline for years and it isn't getting any better.

Eh the animus against public is problematic and maybe OP has a point on that at least. Are the public schools actually declining or are people just afraid that folks are pushing against the concerning legacies of MCPS and DCPS etc

Is this really what parents pay for when choosing private?? Wouldn’t you want high end tech but with the best instruction on how to use it? Our littles will be exposed to it, should provide the best tools to use technology at an early age.

Of course, but not at this age. Our "littles" aren't exposed to tech yet - 2nd grade. I see no reason they'd need to have tech exposure at school in kindergarten, given that they don't access it at home.

I didn't mean to call out WIS, just mentioned it because a PP said WIS doesn't introduce tech until much later. Their website shows that's not true.

What is the "right reason" to segregate richers and poors. If you are going to a Christian school I think any answer you give would be blasphemous.

I'm not sending my kids to private so no dog in this fight, but I sure as heck hope private supplies a better elementary and middle school education because frankly, MCPS kind of sucks at both. At least, their reading/writing/English curriculum and foreign language curriculum. Math and science seem ok.

I went to a private school myself and the English and foreign language instruction was worlds better. We wrote papers in third and fourth grade that are far more advanced than anything my middle schooler has been asked to do. Heck, they don't even read full books or use textbooks. And yes, it makes a difference. A good textbook is an organized progression of ideas and instruction. Random downloaded snippets from websites do not replicate that instruction.

The not reading full books is so irritating. It’s really not that hard

It’s not up to the parents really to dictate all this. There are multiple reasons to move away from reading full books and they aren’t all bad. The entitlement of knowing how to educate your kids best is why MCPS / DCPS was problematic and a lot of privates continue to be problematic.

Sorry but parents should be able to choose some things here…

So diversity is great, just not diversity of political beliefs, got it. Sounds super "inclusive" lol.
