Umm. If she was a danger. That’s why. |
It could just as easily be a CYA precaution, to make sure it happens immediately, and without fuss or escalation. Like having a security guard escort a fired employee from the building. Doesn't necessarily mean they've show previous propensity for violence, it's just routine. But if she tried to retaliate for being ratted out, or left with some of the suitemates' belongings, that could leave the school open to even more liability. They were backpedaling, and FAST. |
My impression was that her stated intention to bring random online dudes into the suite for her "sexual stuff" was the last straw. It was mentioned because that's what led the suite mates to escalate up the chain far enough that someone in power spotted the fraud. |
| according to my kid, the sexual stuff was all talk. but there was a lot of weird day to day, non-sexual behavior that was "off". |
like what? |
Sure, believable she didn’t know when she first posted but when someone else said “who,” she’d google it and answer or ignore. She knew..but pretended she had no idea. Dumb |
Did she have an accent? If not - it means that at least she went to an American high school. And it actually might have been in ND. |
| I work in real estate and the last step in evictions is calling a sheriff to the property to be present while another party hired by the landlord moves things out. The sheriff is there just to "keep the peace" but it does not mean that there's any kind of criminal activity or charge or actual danger involved. The sheriff's row is limited and the landlord needs to post a "sheriff's bond" in advance. |
Kids learning English abroad often learn it in an American accent. I made this assumption too until living abroad and ran into kids at DD’s school whom I assumed were also American based on their accents. I suspect it has to do with how dominant music and American film are as well. |
| Goes to show what a sham the whole admission process is. |
Nothing to do with music or films - but the teacher. If the teacher speaks with a US accent, that is the accent in which you learn the language. |
It is always critical to interview the roommates. |
I feel like that was probably what did it though right? Don’t you think these freshmen told their parents and the parents reported it?? |
| I have no personal knowledge whatsoever about this situation. However, googling indicates that Yale doesn't have an active alumni association in North Dakota.https://alumni.yale.edu/groups/regional-clubs/yale-club-north-dakota I think alumni are the ones who do most of the interviewing. Thus, it is quite possible, if not probable, that if she had an interview it was not in person. |
You don't get to choose who your kid lives with. Living with (or rather, being force to live with) people like this is part of the "college experience" |
