It's just a staged distraction from the Epstein scandal. Trump does this kinda stuff all the time to pivot the press, draw things out ("press conference next week with details" - type thing), and buys times for his lawyers to push the Epstein list further under the carpet.

If trump was smart (he’s not), he would focus on “soft-Singaporeazation” of cities specifically in blue states and then use that to undercut elected dems because this a topic (like Israel-Palestine) that splits dems on the ground.
