You are an idiot and clearly knows nothing about Tulane. 1st of all, kids from NOLA are a tiny minority at Tulane. Second..,.I wont even waste my time |
Don’t care what Hillel says….I’m Jewish and both of my kids are there now. I can 100% guarantee that it is not even close to 44% Jewish. |
Why do you have put kids down? My very smart and academic kid graduated from Tulane with a high GPA/double major, had fabulous summer internships, worked very hard all through school. Guess what? So do 90% of their friends. All smart and hardworking. While at school they also volunteered and tutored kids many, many hours throughout the New Orleans community, ate at some of the best restaurants in the country, and attended music festivals (not just jazz fest). I don’t understand the need some people have to disparage the intelligence or drive of other kids. We get it, you don’t like Tulane. It is definitely a school for extroverted, non-nerdy kids who like to socialize and party. That does not mean these kids are “non-academic.” |
I don’t think I’d want to send my Christian dc to a school for this reason. Not bc we are anti semitic or religion is so important to us but because it’s often a place where people meet their life partners and life long friends etc, and many Jewish parents I know secretly (or not so secretly) don’t want their dc ending up with non Jews. |
What about Rochester? |
Hillel is wrong. The number is more like 25%. I’m the PP. Both of my Jewish kids are there now. My daughter’s BF is Catholic….and I’m perfectly fine with that. Stop he madness… |
FWIW, my not-Jewish DS goes to Tulane and loves it. His best friend at Tulane is a devout Catholic who attends Mass weekly. |
+1. Catholic DD loves Tulane. Her BFF also is Catholic. They have many friends of all backgrounds. I find these posts amusing. |
Why would Hillel be wrong and your anecdotal evidence is correct? I appreciate that you don’t mind your dd *dating* a Catholic but many Jewish parents do care that their children end up marrying within the community. To deny this is silly. |
Personally I don’t know anyone with dc there who isn’t Jewish (4 right now). But that’s obviously just my experience |
|
Do nit understand the hate for Tulane. It is a very good school, highly selective and really small class sizes taught by professors.
It is no more party school vs other colleges. It use to make the list as a party school because it is in New Orleans and Madri Gras. |
I don’t see anyone hating it. And I’m sure it’s fairly selective but isn’t it known as a school that messes with its numbers a bit? I personally think those things are a little silly. |
NP. My DC attends Tulane and is Catholic. Lives in a duplex house with 8 people (4 up and 4 down). 1 is 1/2 Jewish, 2 Episcopal, 4 Catholic and 1 raised Christian but now agnostic. We just happened to discuss when I was there visiting and a few kids were off to Mass. These kids said there are a lot of Jewish kids from NY/NJ and a lot of Catholics. |
| My kid graduated from Jackson Reed in DC and 5 or 6 kids from their graduating class went to Tulane. Mostly girls. All Jewish. Probably because of my anecdotal experience, I think of Tulane as a Jewish school. Academically, I think it has an ok rep, and as much as I love NOLA, I don't think of it as a safe city and wouldn't want my young adult there. But to each his own. |

Clearly a lot of the kids coming from DC/NY/NJ are Jewish….this is a DC based forum so the perception is that they are all Jews at Tulane.
The vast majority of the kids coking from the west coast and south are not Jewish and they are, believe it or not, the majority. And yes, Hillel is wrong. |
