Top team offers are already out—how’s your team shaping up?

That was some shady back-door stuff.

I have a question for ECNL and GA @ U13. Are the ID sessions a sham too and do kids essentially get on those team ahead of time at secret practices also?

Yeah, that's always frustrating. My DS would experience that same sort of thing for a few years and he stopped going to the higher level team tryouts because they weren't really tryouts. I get it, the coaches received feedback on players throughout the year from the current team coaches and they knew who they would be bringing on to the next level teams.

For my DD, the ENCL club that she plays for had two primary feeder clubs. Her U13 "tryout" for ECNL was moreso a formality of getting the player pool together and getting the two groups of girls to have an intro to each other. Again, it was pretty well defined ahead of time who was going to be joining the ECNL team. Her team hasn't had a ton of movement as she has gotten older. There's been 1 or 2 players dropped or added each year. Going in to U16, they added one development player and dropped 1 player. Going into next year, U17, her team has zero changes. She's played with most of the girls either at outdoor or futsal since U9. Nice for continuity...

Its much harder for boys to stand out at a tryout compared to girls.

Why would you think that is?

Although not "top" we are moving clubs to a new MLSN2 team that will be made up 100% of kids joining the club. Even if I had the roster in front of me, I only know a handful from around the area.

It's exciting in some sense because of the potential, worrisome because a lot of the teams in the league are being formed from existing teams and will be more polished.

Added in is the lack of communication from anywhere about MLSN2.

Read subject, Top team offers are already out. MLSN2 would not be top team hence the lack of communication. Please be better people

We also tried out for a local club that we left 3 years ago, and they haven't made an offer yet, even though DS was a top 5 player in tryouts. I remember why we left, but uggh, I'm so sick of driving 45 minutes each way for practice on top of RTO commuting. We're going to wait out the crappy local team before we decline the much better team where we have an offer.

45 minutes each way is soul crushing. Hope your son gets on the local club.

They gave him an alternate offer, which my son was unwilling to accept. I thought I did things right. I sent a simple message to the coach explaining that the local club was our first choice and we would gladly accept an offer. I was friendly at the tryouts. My kid played hard. Apparently, if you leave that club, don't let the door hit you on the way out. Another season of driving 45 minutes each way, 3- 4 times per week for practice, plus weekend travel. I am so tired, counting down the years before my son can drive. Unfortunately, the club director is also involved in our high school program - I fear we're in a hole we can't escape.

They offered him a lower team than the one he left previously?

Um it would be the "top team" at a
club where mlsn2 is their "top team".

Well, to be kind of a dick, my first two played in college at good schools, one is going to grad school, the other is using the D1 athlete recruiting advantage and getting slightly better job interest than their friends who didn’t play sports.

So, yeah.

Your post doesn't sound like it was written by a parent and it has nothing to do with anything discussed in this thread...so, yeah.

My daughters ECNL team is going to be even stronger/duplicative where they are already strong. Did not fix the glaring problem through try out season. Maybe this summer?
