MAGAs better get their butts into town for this, because no one who lives locally is going to. |
I see overpriced hotels and merch in their future. |
They’re ok with the little dictator’s parade. It’s feeding starving kids or cancer research they have problems with… money going to freeloaders. |
Agree! Somewhere close but NOT near the stupid king parade. |
What does Musk think of this massive WASTE? |
Great idea! Hope Democracy Forward jumps on it. |
The Army is trying to coddle favor. I used to work on a base and thought it was wasteful when they gave free cake to every soldier, every year for these birthdays. Especially because there is a big problem with weight/fitness in the military! This is a million times worse. So North Korean! |
He’ll say, “see, I love the military, and they love me.” Despite his cuts to the VA and mental health. So performative—the whole GOP. |
Hey everyone, MAGA here.
You do realize that this parade, if it happens, is actually to celebrate the 250th birthday of the US Army? The reference to Trump's own birthday is mainly to troll folks like you. Reading this site makes it appear that the Democrat/Liberal/Leftist/Anti-Trump crowd has nothing to say except finding new ways to attack and complain about Trump. Can someone write a sentence or two saying who you think would be a good Democrat Presidential candidate for 2028 and why, without saying anything negative about Trump and his supporters? Just name your candidate and say what you like about him/her. I bet you can't! |
Trump as commander in chief is an insult to the Army, the Navy, the Air Force and the Marines. Can he have a solemn moment of respect for service members that have sacrificed for this country without turning it into a campaign ad or needing to go play golf instead? He doesn't do sacrifice and he has no respect for people that understand what it is. He'll just show up for a parade. It's pathetic. |
We’re too far out from 2028 for me to have any opinion at this point, a lot can happen in the next 3 1/2 years. We’ll see if this parade ends up being a celebration of the Army. I have a feeling every branch will be represented because this is more a show of force from a manchild who is obsessed with his toys and wants to look tough than it is about the Army’s founding. |
Wrong! Leave it to MAGA to be uninformed. Trump wanted to do this during his first term to “show military strength.” Here’s what the Military Times said about it in 2018: “Muscular military parades of the kind that are common in authoritarian countries like China and North Korea are not quintessentially American. The U.S. traditionally has not embraced showy displays of raw military power, such as North Korea’s parading of ballistic missiles as a claim of international prestige and influence. U.S. military members commonly participate in parades on the Fourth of July and other holidays to mark appreciation and remembrance of military veterans, but these typically do not include gaudy displays of military hardware.“ … “ Although Defense Secretary Jim Mattis has not commented publicly on the idea of a Washington military parade, the idea is not an obvious fit with his emphasis on focusing strictly, if not exclusively, on military activities that either improve the lethality of the armed forces or enhance their preparation for combat, or both.” https://www.militarytimes.com/news/pentagon-congress/2018/02/07/pentagon-says-trump-ordered-washington-military-parade/ |
In 1975, there were celebrations in Washington D.C. to mark the communist victory in Vietnam. While there was no official US Army parade, there were spontaneous gatherings and protests related to the end of the war. The 1975 events marked the end of US involvement in the Vietnam War.
It's important to note that while 1975 did not feature a large-scale US Army parade in D.C., the National Victory Celebration, which was held in 1991 after the Gulf War, was the largest American military parade since World War II, according to Wikipedia. |
I don't see any Army parade to mark their 200th celebration |
The only parade I see in DC was from 1976 and it was a bicentennial parade that had a variety of groups on display. There was no June 14th army or military parade in 1975 or 1976 in the news that I can find.
