The Potomac yard Target has been a mess for years. It is chronically understocked and has whole shelves empty. It survives only because it is in an area where a lot of people are constantly moving in and out, and the closest Walmart is 30 minutes away. |
How? The DC Costco customer base is approximately 1/3 Asian shoppers. And those are the ones that are easily identifiable as Asian, so it could be greater. |
I'm PP. I'm actually skeptical of their claims |
Nope. I voted for Harris but keep on believing. That Target has empty shelves a lot because they can’t keep the shelves stocked. It has the highest turnover in stock/merchandise in the country. There was a lot of concern of its elimination if that new arena came there because it’s so profitable. |
Yes, I hear that a lot |
And Target pays poverty wages that are subsidized by your tax dollars. I’d rather shop somewhere the people make a living wage and my tax dollars aren’t making up the difference. |
Some weird cognitive dissonance here. You sure seem to think we care. Regardless of what “you” are doing, Target has seen a huge dropoff during the boycott. |
| I wonder how much of this is due to boycotting, and how much is due to decreased consumer confidence/spending overall? If people are cutting back on the Target impulse purchase stuff of, like, the decorative throw pillows and costume jewelry and stuff because they’re concerned about their own personal financial situation, they’re already spending less at Target. And then they may think, well if I’m mostly just here to buy groceries, I can get those cheaper at Aldi or Lidl, or I can just go to the regular grocery store that’s closer to my house. How are sales at Walmart and Sam’s Club lately? |
I can only track my own spending but I was regularly at Target once a week for the last decade. Bought most of my kids’ clothes at Target, housewares, and things like toys, greeting cards, holiday candy, make up, etc. Easily a few thousand dollars a year. No more. Multiply x thousands of shoppers and that’s a big hit. Now going to Costco and piecing the rest together from other stores. It’s worth the hassle. Won’t ever go back to Target. |
No idea about Wal Mart or Sam’s Club but Costco posted significant upticks in traffic and sales. |
It sounds like you are ideological and lack critical thinking skills if you actually think that affirmative action isn't discriminatory. You don't even seem to acknowledge who has been tearing up cities recently. There are ways to become less intellectually lazy, but it has to come from within. |
Exactly! It's been 2 months for me now. No Target. Never Walmart. |
|
I'm buying more at Costco and can tell if I have anything shipped it's taking a lot longer than it used to--think a lot of former target shoppers are moving to Costco just like I did.
I was also buying a lot of cute stuff at Target that I don't really need. |

Crucial Quote “Our team grew traffic and delivered better-than-expected sales and profitability in our biggest quarter this year,” CEO Brian Cornell said in the company’s earnings statement. Key Question One wonders what Target was expecting in the fourth quarter after net sales declined 3% to $30.9 billion, operating income was off 21% to $1.5 billion and net earnings declined 20% to $1.1 billion? |
