Good. Accountability is the way out of this mess.

+1. Now we just need charges against the sheriff.

The sheriff is Robert Norris, Kootenai County Sherriff. You can read all about him here. He does not have an unblemished record.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Norris_(sheriff)

So far, no charges have been filed against Norris, who has retained an attorney: "Police identified Norris as an 'involved' party. No criminal charges have been filed against him."
https://cdapress.com/news/2025/apr/19/private-security-guards-charged-in-coeur-dalene-town-hall-dragging/

Norris is apparently at odds with the local Coeur d'Alene police, where the townhall took place. The Coeur d'Alene police chief (Lee White) said "It’s not appropriate for law enforcement to forcefully remove a person from a town hall for speaking out of turn or shouting." Read his words--they are heartwarming given what's going on in the country right now.

“I don’t care what your message is, especially in an open town hall like this,” White said. “We have to respect everybody’s First Amendment rights, regardless of what side of the aisle you happen to sit on. I know there’s some people up here who probably disagree with me and would like us to take action and maybe try to silence a voice that’s in opposition to theirs at a town hall, but there’s very little we can do with regard to First Amendment protections. We have to make sure people have the protections afforded them under the Constitution.”

I don’t agree with the above. However, you should get up when commanded by private or public. You almost always a “guest.” I have watched dozens of hours of traffic stops on line. You can too. Do what the officer says. Everytime . grieve later

Leave the building or vehicle when asked. If you protest, inform and trian yourself. I promote watching Blue Cams on youtube if you are envisioning any scenario with difficult interactions or being vocal or oppositional. You can make your day better Study it ahead of time

It’s a lot of women, btw, who get shocked in the moment

The problem here is that these men were not in uniform, did not identify themselves, would not name the authority under which they were making her leave, would not show badges. You’re saying “do what the officer says,” but nobody knew who these guys were. Were they actual law enforcement officers? They appeared to just be goons forcing the political opposition out of the town hall. They’ve now been charged with crimes. Do you think a group of unidentified men should be able to carry a woman out of a building? It’s pretty scary if you’d do anything an unidentified man told you to do, without question.

Hey, Vlad, research the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Start with the right to free speech and the right to assemble. I just can’t with dumb people anymore

I think these “security” goons would stop if the whole crowd turned on them. Filming isn’t going to stop them. An angry crowd would stop them.

The filming helped convict them. We need more filming of abuses--and there will be many in the coming months and years.

Another update on this incident:

The woman at the center of it is suing for $5 million. She's suing the county sheriff, the county COP central committee chair, the private security company, and the plain clothes security guards who attacked her. I hope she wins! Oh, and in case some of you missed it, the six guards who assaulted her are facing charges from the city of Coeur d'Alene.

Now if someone could only sue the cops who tazed two attendees at MTG's townhall recently...

"On Monday, Borrenpohl filed a tort claim, which is often a prelude to a civil lawsuit, against Kootenai County Sheriff Robert Norris, Kootenai County Republican Central Committee Chair Brent Regan, private security company Lear Asset Management and the same five Lear guards, including Lear CEO Paul Trouette. She is seeking “at least $5 million” plus costs and attorney’s fees, the claim says."

I have no sympathy for this woman and hope she doesn't get a dime.

Free speech does NOT mean shouting down the speaker. So sick of the people who believe they can attend and disrupt speeches, lectures, town halls, or other meetings in the name of "free speech." When you disrupt and shout down others, you rob others of free speech.

I'll just leave these here...

It actually does. It literally, actually, does.

Nope:

In First Amendment law, a heckler's veto is the suppression of speech by the government, because of [the possibility of] a violent reaction by hecklers. It is the government that vetoes the speech, because of the reaction of the heckler. Under the First Amendment, this kind of heckler's veto is unconstitutional.

Booing is fine. Unless you have bionic lungs you’re not shutting anyone down.

For Republicans today, money talks. More than public service, or ethics, or morals or democracy or the Constitution. It’s all about $$$ (Hi Elmo!).

I hope she bankrupts those SOBs. Not because I really care if she gets $5 or $5 million or $5 billion. But because it’s the only thing that stops nameless goons who do not identify themselves as law enforcement officers (because, you know, They aren’t) from assaulting and tasing women in townhall and dragging them out of halls and off the street in front of Tufts again and again and again. Because that’s what might protect my daughter and make her feel as safe using her voice as her 6 foot plus brother.

Money is the only things these people listen too. So make it hurt. So the next woman doesn’t get hurt. Yes— even MTG making an a;; of herself in front of Congress does not deserve to be assaulted. (Maybe tased— because she seems fine having her constituents tased while she watches).
