Update on this story... [twitter]https://x.com/krassenstein/status/1913395080267788559[/twitter]
Good. Accountability is the way out of this mess.
+1. Now we just need charges against the sheriff.
+2
The sheriff is Robert Norris, Kootenai County Sherriff. You can read all about him here. He does not have an unblemished record. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Norris_(sheriff) So far, no charges have been filed against Norris, who has retained an attorney: "Police identified Norris as an 'involved' party. No criminal charges have been filed against him." https://cdapress.com/news/2025/apr/19/private-security-guards-charged-in-coeur-dalene-town-hall-dragging/ Norris is apparently at odds with the local Coeur d'Alene police, where the townhall took place. The Coeur d'Alene police chief (Lee White) said "It’s not appropriate for law enforcement to forcefully remove a person from a town hall for speaking out of turn or shouting." Read his words--they are heartwarming given what's going on in the country right now.
“I don’t care what your message is, especially in an open town hall like this,” White said. “We have to respect everybody’s First Amendment rights, regardless of what side of the aisle you happen to sit on. I know there’s some people up here who probably disagree with me and would like us to take action and maybe try to silence a voice that’s in opposition to theirs at a town hall, but there’s very little we can do with regard to First Amendment protections. We have to make sure people have the protections afforded them under the Constitution.”
https://idahocapitalsun.com/2025/02/24/north-idaho-woman-forcibly-removed-from-kootenai-county-republican-town-hall/#:~:text=Norris%20denied%20knowledge%20of%20the,or%20who%20had%20set%20them.
