A co-deputy director has been appointed at the FBI (Bongino is currently the deputy director). The Trump administration either feels Bongino can't handle the job all by himself or it may have something to do with the fact that Bongino has sparred with Bondi and others over the administration's handling of the Epstein files.

There is only ONE qualification: "Bailey has positioned himself as staunchly pro-Trump, including by defending the president amid his slew of indictments and legal problems in 2023 and 2024."
