So they hire un documented people? No one has an issue with LEGAL immigrants……. |
It won’t accomplish anything. This is DC where some insanely high percent of people voted for Biden. What is closing this school messaging to Trump or other law makers? They don’t care about DC. It’s all performative. |
Underneath all of this, I think we all want things to be better. What if we started from there? |
Are they working collaboratively with the parents they screwed over by closing? |
What if we started from the fundamental premise that school needs to be open? |
LOL that does not apply to LAMB. Ya’ll need to simmer down. |
Life can be really overwhelming when unexpected challenges, like not having childcare, disrupt our day.
But when I pause and think about the larger struggles—like the tragedy of a plane crash or the deep uncertainty faced by immigrant families—I realize how much perspective shapes our emotions. While I can’t control everything around me, I do have control over how I respond to these emotions. I’m grateful to be here, to be alive, and yes, even grateful for the inconvenience—because it could be so much worse. It could have been my family on that plane, or I could be undocumented, living in fear. But I’m not. I’m alive, a grandchild of undocumented immigrants, and an American citizen. This is me and how I’m dealing with it. I def have been hugging my kids tighter these days. |

LAMB is like, "We hate Trump so much we can't have school!" What? You're an elementary school. No one gives a shit about your political views. Just do your job. |
Please explain why this doesn’t apply to LAMB. |
Charter school teachers aren’t considered government employees. |
lolz good luck finding new qualified teachers but by all means go off karen 😭😭😭🫠 |
Source please. |
Look I don't know if it's the right tactic or not but calling the rounding up of immigrants and sending them to Gitmo a political grievance that's unrelated to a Spanish speaking school is pretty gross. People are terrified. The dictatorship is refusing to recognize schools and churches as sanctuaries and is literally just rounding up people who speak Spanish (a Puerto Rican women was detained in a store in Wisconsin for the crime of speaking Spanish). I realize a lot of us are rightly terrified and anxious and lashing out but if you think this is simply some normal politics than I have news about the next few years. |
I'm most struck by how most people here are referring to it as lost "childcare." This is a lost instructional day, first and foremost. What are the expectations around teaching at LAMB?
