Weird comment. Not everyone celebrates Diwali, but everyone has a gender identity. |
Me neither. There is no huge "Halloween party" at our elementary and middle schools but kids were encouraged to wear costumes to school if they wanted to (as long as they complied with MCPS policy, e.g., no shirts glorifying violence and such). From what I could tell at the bus stop, plenty of kids did. Some teachers also dress up. Whatever troll or trolls started this thread, please stop. No is denying your children Halloween. This is like the "War on Christmas" myth. |
Who’s making a huge deal about it? We’re just saying the kids should be allowed to celebrate it at school, like kids have done for decades. |
This thread is on page 8. |
Marylander, went to schools in the 60's and 70's. We always dressed up and had parties. We had Catholic, Jewish, and Protestant and Atheist students. All participated. It is our culture. |
Because people like you think it’s ridiculous that kids might want a Halloween party at school. |
I know reading comprehension is a problem for you, but the PP literally just said they are allowed to celebrate at school by wearing costumes. Are you suggesting that they be allowed to trick or treat at school or something? You do realize that the teachers have academic subjects to teach? |
Ironic that you cite reading comprehension, when you seem to have missed the posts talking about schools that don’t allow Halloween celebrations at all. |
I'm sorry, what? You started this thread because you're sad that something you did in school *50 or 60 years ago* doesn't happen anymore? Do you know that "our culture" at that time was also that women could not get credit cards or bank loans in their own name? My, times have changed, haven't they? |
Oh, I comprehended that perfectly well. It's just that nutcases like you claim that "ant-Halloween" is some widespread thing, but over the course of 8 pages, only one school was identified. So, in short, I don't believe you. |
If you were actually a parent of young kids, you'd know that they don't actually care. They want to go trick-or-treating with their friends. |
I have an 8 year old. She definitely cares. |
What? I haven't read the whole thread and I count 12 (my kid is at one of these schools and FTR it is NBD to us that they are doing a fall party instead of a halloween party) Rock Creek forest Rock view Oakland terrace highland rosemary hills woodlin takoma ESS highland view sligo creek glen haven farmland |
