$495 boots for an 18 year old?

If they come with some gross imperfection I'll sell them. I have since talked to a friend who did this and the imperfection was indiscernible. The best part of buying this option is that they were in stock vs. the regular pairs (@ $500) which are currently out of stock.

I think she'll have them for a long time. They're the chestnut color (not banana which is more trendy and that she likes but recognizes will likely go out of style).

Is that what the difference means the 14L v 14 L LTP? Is LTP mean factory second?

For all the posters saying need to teach about money, teach her how to take care of nice boots and if keep in good shape she can sell them for several $100 if/when she wants to stop wearing them at Frye exchange: https://www.thefryecompany.com/pages/the-frye-exchange?srsltid=AfmBOoqZ9TjOU1joQl-kLU8T08hZ6yCoT_g8SVMx7NK2xtWQ2hFCc9kB

But as a Frye lover, she will probably be like most of us and keep forever!

Do you and DD wear the same size shoe?

yes. As does my other daughter (15). We all wear the same size so we can share shoes (although we generally don't share everyday shoes). My girls will borrow heels or boots, etc (from me and from each other).

I've been stalking Poshmark but they're actually marked UP on there because they're hard to find new online.

The only two pairs in her size right now on Poshmark are $750 and $699.

She must be picking the most expensive pair she can find.

Frye has lots of classic riding and other boots for $200-300.

Agree that ones 10+ older are made of better cuts and quality.

Me neither and I own some cowboy boots. But I like them to have some padding in the sole otherwise leather or wood soles have zero shock absorption.

I got married in a blue heather tweed suit and Frye boots.

I think they’ve been discontinued, but I have a pair of Veronica Tall Back Zip that have rubber soles. They’re amazingly comfortable as long as I keep the leather well-conditioned, and they have a great grip in winter slush, too. I think Frye still makes a short version of the Veronica, though.

I loved my leather-soled 12r harness when I was younger, but the Veronica were so much more comfortable as my feet spread and lost padding with pregnancy and age.

I would buy them no question. Footwear is a necessity. Quality shoes and boots last forever. I bought my 8th grader some Marc Jacobs boots in 8th grade. She still has them in college. I bought my 12 year old Chloe boots last year and if her feet grow more then I’ll take them, they fit me. Quality boots are not a waste of money.

Glad you got them. I am a minimalist mum. My older kids have all gotten high quality, built-to-last items on occasion since they stopped growing.

I flew to college. Too far to drive. Always appreciated a gift that I loved and could easily take back to school with confidence that I looked/felt awesome. No need for a load of filler gifts.

Same. Boots cost that much, it’s not a crazy price at all. I bought my daughter a pair of Marc Jacob boots in 8th grade. Four years later they look brand new and not outdated.

Be prepared for her to be upset that you didn’t get the color she wanted. I would be upset if I asked for a specific pair and my mother came back with a totally different color than I wante just to save some money.

Never fail DCUM. She decided on the color that I purchased. She like the banana but thinks the other color has more staying power. But way to jump all over me!!

This is a little different. OP's daughter wants tall boots. They will be outdated in four years or less. She can keep them and wait for them to come back in style like another poster upthread has, or she can wear them anyway. Lots of people wear outdated shoes because they love their shoes. My point only being that not all expensive boots are going to look new and still be in style four years later.
