Hi. Our HHI is around $575k, and we have family money on both sides, so not really wealthy but definitely financially secure. We have no issue with our kids going through metal detectors. |
I'm not sure why a public school would play a private school, outside of an exhibition game. Are you saying that St. Alban's hosted a public school at a non-league game, and then displayed their excellent hospitality by providing food only for their own students? Wow. That is a far cry from traditional Episcopalian values. |
So when Jackson Reed brings Gatorade for their soccer team or track team they bring enough for the other team?
My daughter played Jackson Reed (at Jackson Reed) in soccer last week and there was no offer of any Gatorade or snacks by Jackson Reed. Did a parent fall down on the job? 🙄 |
Last spring STA played Jackson Reed baseball at Fort Reno and Jackson Reed and had a whole spread of food for directly after the game. They didn't invite STA. |
I guess this indignation that JR students eat food that isn't meant for them and provides food that isn't for others, on a thread about how wealthy the parents are sure seems sus. Methinks people doth protest too much. Not happy that many people with means choose JR for their kids who (gasp) go through metal detectors and (gasp) get into excellent colleges that they can easily afford. |
WTF are you talking about. The STA players and families were invited to partake before any of the JR players, and the entire STA team went and had food. Why would you outright lie about this? |
You are outright lying. I was at that game. |
I was too you dipshit. Go ask Logan, Myles, Henry, Peter et al if they didn't come over and partake in the food. The kids know each other from travel teams, little league, etc. Did 100% decide to partake...no idea, but did a ton of the STA kids partake...absolutely. Are you really doubling down on this? There are pictures of the game and the post-game celebrations because it was a mini-tournament. |
Oh yeah...you could also ask RJ while you are at it since he came over and had a sandwich and chatted with the JR coaches and players since we all know each other. |
you’re wealthy. |
this is the thing where until you can party every day and have no visible means of support you aren't wealthy.
And I'm a little sympathetic to the people who have plenty of money but to keep it coming in have to work 60 hours a week. I can get you don't feel rich if you grind 6 days a week, even if it lets you own a house in Rehoboth your spouse and kids get to call you from one week in August. |
Absolutely. While I want my kids to have every advantage I can give them, I want the same for ALL kids. And putting my money where my mouth is on this and staying public. |
Wow. If that is "not really wealthy" to you, I am having a hard time imagining what would be. |
Well, you have Glenn Youngkin with a $500MM+ net worth sending his kids to STA (may have graduated already). |
Well, I have a friend in admin at GDS and he said the median HHI there is $1 million. So this $585k family would be on the lower end of that private school world. |
