Hi. Our HHI is around $575k, and we have family money on both sides, so not really wealthy but definitely financially secure. We have no issue with our kids going through metal detectors.

This. We’re comfortably above that income level, currently paying full freight for college for our one kid out of monthly income with money left over for things like travel and brokerage fund contributions (after maxing retirement), and our son was the one of the least wealthy of his immediate friend group. They weren’t billionaires, but they were $2.5M beach house kinda wealthy.

If money is covered please work on the manners. Saw first hand a ton of Jackson Reed act like spoiled children this weekend.

I saw what they were wearing as they helped themselves to food and drinks not meant for them and they never asked nor said thank you. The other moms and I were very surprised.

I was immediately shocked into disbelief and it did cause me to act like a statue so that is on me. It did give me a chance to think, however, and I realized that any comment about them going back to their part of the stands would have been unheeded, (those kids weren’t getting manners at the sound of my voice) and they all probably would have complained about how “unfair” it was that someone else got something they didn’t.

I'm not sure why a public school would play a private school, outside of an exhibition game. Are you saying that St. Alban's hosted a public school at a non-league game, and then displayed their excellent hospitality by providing food only for their own students? Wow. That is a far cry from traditional Episcopalian values.

My daughter played Jackson Reed (at Jackson Reed) in soccer last week and there was no offer of any Gatorade or snacks by Jackson Reed.

I guess this indignation that JR students eat food that isn't meant for them and provides food that isn't for others, on a thread about how wealthy the parents are sure seems sus. Methinks people doth protest too much. Not happy that many people with means choose JR for their kids who (gasp) go through metal detectors and (gasp) get into excellent colleges that they can easily afford.

Did 100% decide to partake...no idea, but did a ton of the STA kids partake...absolutely.

Absolutely. While I want my kids to have every advantage I can give them, I want the same for ALL kids. And putting my money where my mouth is on this and staying public.

Well, I have a friend in admin at GDS and he said the median HHI there is $1 million. So this $585k family would be on the lower end of that private school world.
